THE BUDAPEST SPEAKEASY BAR & CAFE FAREWELL LETTER
To All Our Valued Guests and Friends,
After eight months of Government Mandated Closure, it is with great sadness that we announce the permanent closure of The Budapest Speakeasy Bar & Café at Cukor utca 3, Budapest 1056.
We want to thank all our wonderful guests and employees for supporting us over these past years and making The Budapest Speakeasy one of the Budapest’s most popular establishments.
We are extremely humbled that so many embraced “The Speakeasy” and that we were able to succeed as long as we did. For an establishment to survive and thrive in Budapest is an accomplishment of which we can all be proud. And we could not have done it without all of you.
We all mourn the loss of our favourite bars for they provide us with so much more than food & drink. They provide nourishment for our soul. Seeing our favourite bartender who remembers what we drink, saying “hi” to familiar faces and sitting at the table/bar stool that makes us most comfortable. Interesting conversation with new friends about life in general, seeing the hardworking staff take extra care of us & knowing you always feel safe and welcome. All these small gestures that make one feel at home was our intention and we hope you felt comfortable and made as many new friends as we did.
These are the things that defined the BEING AT HOME ambiance. A gathering place to share accounts of our days, to celebrate big events in our lives or just share a drink with friends.
We have been proud to support FAPF (Foundation of Animal Protection in Füzesabony (fuzallatvedelem.hu), Budapest Exiles R.F.C. (Budapest Exiles R.F.C.) and many local Comedians & Musicians. We encourage everyone to continue to advocate & endorse all these fantastic organisations and artists.
The restaurant and hospitality industry has been woefully neglected during this pandemic. Actually, all small businesses have. We urge everyone to support your local, independent hospitality outlets. They ALL need your patronage, now more than ever.
We can specifically recommend Davy Byrne's Irish Pub who will be opening their summer terrace today. And once insides can reopen, they will again be hosting Live Music every weekend, Live Sport on their large screens, Weekly Quiz, and Comedy Nights. They also have the best Guinness in Hungary.

We can also highly recommend The Barossa Tavern (formerly the 10 Sixty-Six Bar). They have a Cosy Atmosphere, Karaoke, Live Music, Movie Nights and Great Food. They also promise that the Speakeasy family will be treated as they were their own.

I would like to also thank Animative Smart Home for sharing the space & their technology with us. Especially Aniko & Andrew Woods whose tireless hard work transformed the Audio, Visual & Lighting in the Speakeasy. Their Control4 Technology helped to make the bar and events even more special & operate more efficiently. Their live show room remains open on the premises and you can contact them directly.
