Eight years ago, 10 craft beer lovers gathered and said, “Hey, Hong Kong doesn’t have the craft beer that we love. Let’s change that.” So we brought in some Rogue Ales, some North Coast beers, some Baird beers. We thought, well, if no one buys it, at least we’ll have good beers to share with friends.
Oh, we shared those beers. At our first block party at Stones in Tai Hang, and again at the first Beertopia (pictured). Then at bars like The Globe, at events on the Fire Dragon Path and in friends' houses all over town. We had crazy nights launching Stone and Deschutes, at To Ol and Mikkeller and Tuatara tap takeovers, and talking shop with our favorite people in the industry.
But every story has an ending, and this is it. Eight years ago, when we started Hop Leaf, we vowed, above everything else, “To make Hong Kong a better place to drink.” And we’ve done that. And it’s time to pass the torch to someone else.
Hop Leaf’s beers are now part of Owlsome Brothers. We’ll keep our online storefront open a bit before we shutter. After that, look for Kagua, Stone, Deschutes, North Coast, To Ol, Mikkeller, Epic and all our other beers at owlsomebottles.com, or at your favorite bars or bottle shops around town.
We'll be at those places too, enjoying those beers still. Here's to good beer!
