What’s the value of a leather jacket? When it carries the story of a tech visionary, a university’s legacy, and the future of innovation — it's priceless.

At the HKUST Foundation Inaugural Gala Dinner, three iconic leather jackets emblazoned with “HKUST”, two autographed by NVIDIA Founder and CEO and 2024 HKUST Honorary Doctor of Engineering Dr. Jensen HUANG (one featuring a personal message), and one contributed by HKUST Council Chairman Prof. Harry SHUM, took the spotlight in an exclusive donation pledge session.

Dr. Huang’s jacket with his personal message earned a HK$10 million pledge from HKUST Council Member and alumnus Mr. Terry TSANG. Matching that generosity, Dr. Huang contributed another HK$10 million through the Jen-Hsun & Lori Huang Foundation, launching the HKUST Top Engineering Scholars Award to support the brightest minds shaping tomorrow.

Here's to a jacket that's more than just cool, but carries the warmth for the future of innovation!

Great news! The latest result of Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025 by subject has just been released! HKUST’s Business and Economics, Computer Science, and Engineering subjects continue to rank among the top 50 worldwide, maintaining the first in Hong Kong.

While rankings offer valuable insights into university performance, key achievements are also reflected in the quality of teaching and research. As a young university with just 33 years of history, HKUST has always been dedicated to fostering an international and diverse learning environment.
