Ηδύς | Wine label design

This fine sweet white wine from Cyprus comes from sun dried grapes that after the harvest, are laid out under the ample Mediterranean sunlight to increase sugars. It’s ancient greek name “Ηδύς” means “sweet”. As this feeling of sweetness is very much associated with pleasure, we designed the label inspired by the myth of the birth of Aphrodite, goddess of pleasure and prosperity, that according to Hesiodos emerged from the sea foam on the coast of Cyprus.

Ginorto | Wine label design

Noon design+branding redesigned a trilogy of wines that are produced in Lefkada, a cosmopolitan island in the Ioanian Sea, close to Odyssea’s Ithaka and known from the Homeric epics as Nirikos.
The second wine group of the trilogy from the winery Vertzamo is a group of sweet wines named Ginorto (Γινόρτο). Ιn the local dialect of Lefkada “ginorto” means “dream”. The illustration on the label is inspired by the sweet dreamcatcher that was woven by Penelope, the queen of Ithaca, while she was awaiting Odysseus return to the palace after the Trojan War.

Margaritari | Label design for Retsina Wine

Retsina, with its characteristic aroma of the natural resin of the pine tree, is a type of white wine made exclusively in Greece. It has its roots in ancient Greece, where the aromatic resin which was used to seal the amphora, permeated the wine and gave it its distinctive flavour. Until today, small pieces of pine resin are added during the fermentation of the must, and this is why the Retsina wine is characterized as a ‘protected designation of origin’. Retsina usually accompanies seafood.

On the label of this folk wine we designed a mermaid, the mythical entity with the upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish, which appears in the Greek folklore and literature.

The geometrical depiction of the waves-fishes, with the use of metallic hot stamping foil, transmits the feeling of the Mediterranean light which is reflected on the body of the mermaid. The printing techniques used on the label -hot stamping foil, embossing and UV varnish- add new elements to the reposition of the branding of the Retsina wine.

The Seitanidis Winery is located in a small village at the foot of Mount Symvolo, which means “Symbol” in Greek thus the name of this semi sweet wine, Magic Symbol. A typographic game with the letters Μ & Σ, the first letters of the wine’s name in Greek, Μαγικό Σύμβολο (Magic Symbol) create the foundation for the design of the label.

Zoephoros | Wine label design for Red, White & Rose Wines

A bouquet of 40 aromas and trace metals can be detected in a bottle of wine and most of them can be found in just one grape berry. The rest of these elements develop secondarily; some during the process of vinification and others are created while the wine is kept inside the wooden barrels and bottles.

The beauty and complexity of this transformation, that everyone enjoys while drinking wine is expressed perfectly by the meaning of the ancient Greek word “Zoephoros”, which means “the one who brings life”.
