"CATHARSIS : AN ECSTATIC PROCESSION TO DELOS" maps the organic interconnection between Tinos and the sacred island of Apollo, Delos.
Drawing upon the primitive purification rituals, which were taking place in the temple of Poseidon and Amphitrite at Kionia Tinos, before the ancient pilgrims proceeded to Delos, the show visualises the instinctive articulation of a modern "mythology of catharsis".
Under the dazzling Aegean light and the purifying Tinian wind, archetypal mythological structures and visceral ritual practices are intertwined with contemporary art in the realization of the 228th Concealment by the renowned Greek artist Dimitris Alithinos.
Pertaining to the noted Concealments, an ongoing project that began in 1981 as a “concealment of memory” and involves an international network of 227 sites, the immersion of contemporary work of art in the earthy entrails of Arnados, opposite to Delos, constitutes the secular counterpart to the ritual offerings – sacrifices that preceded catharsis.
In this ritual schema, the visceral anatomical plasticity of the sanguinary red canvases of the emerging artist Dafni Atha supplements the mystical character of the exhibition.

🇬🇷 Η έκθεση σύγχρονης τέχνης «ΚΑΘΑΡΣΙΣ : ΜΙΑ Εκστατική πορεία προς τη Δήλο» χαρτογραφεί την οργανική σχέση διάδρασης της Τήνου με το ιερό νησί του Απόλλωνα.
Αφορμώμενη από τις αρχέγονες τελετές εξαγνισμού που τελούνταν στο ιερό του Ποσειδώνα και της Αμφιτρίτης στα Κιόνια Τήνου, προτού οι αρχαίοι προσκυνητές μεταβούν στη Δήλο, η έκθεση οπτικοποιεί την ορμέμφυτη άρθρωση μίας σύγχρονης «μυθολογίας καθάρσεως».
Υπό το εκτυφλωτικό αιγαιακό φως και τον εξιλεωτικό τηνιακό άνεμο, αρχέτυπες μυθολογικές δομές και ενστικτώδεις τελετουργικές πρακτικές συνυφαίνονται με τη σύγχρονη τέχνη στην πραγματοποίηση της 228ης Κατάκρυψης από τον καταξιωμένο Έλληνα καλλιτέχνη Δημήτρη Αληθεινό.
Εντασσόμενη στις ευρέως γνωστές Κατακρύψεις, ένα εν εξελίξει έργο που ξεκίνησε το 1981 ως διαφύλαξη μνήμης και περιλαμβάνει ένα διεθνές δίκτυο 227 θέσεων, η βύθιση ενός έργου σύγχρονης τέχνης στα χωμάτινα σπλάχνα του Αρνάδου αντίκρυ της Δήλου συνιστά το κοσμικό ομόλογο της τελετουργικής προσφοράς – θυσίας που προηγούνταν της καθάρσεως.
Σε αυτό το τελετουργικό σχήμα, η σπλαχνική ανατομική πλαστικότητα των αιματηρών κόκκινων επιφανειών της ανερχόμενης καλλιτέχνιδος Δάφνης Αθά(νασοπούλου) συμπληρώνει τον μυστηριακό χαρακτήρα της έκθεσης.

🇫🇷 L'exposition d'art contemporain "CATHARSIS : UNE PROCESSION ECSTATIQUE VERS DÉLOS" cartographie l'interconnexion organique entre Tinos et l'île sacrée d'Apollon, Délos.
S'appuyant sur les rituels primitifs de purification, qui avaient lieu dans le temple de Poséidon et d'Amphitrite à Kionia Tinos, avant que les anciens pèlerins n'aillent à Délos, l'exposition visualise l'articulation instinctive d'une “mythologie de la catharsis” moderne.
Sous la lumière égéenne éblouissante et le vent purificateur de Tinos, des structures mythologiques archétypales et des pratiques rituelles viscérales se mêlent à l'art contemporain dans la réalisation de la 228e Dissimulation du célèbre artiste grec Dimitris Alithinos.
Appartenant aux célèbres Dissimulations, un projet en cours qui a commencé en 1981 comme une « dissimulation de la mémoire » et implique un réseau international de 227 sites, l'immersion d'une œuvre d'art contemporain dans les entrailles terrestres d'Arnados face à Délos constitue l’homologue séculière des offrandes rituelles – les sacrifices qui ont précédé la catharsis.
Dans ce schéma rituel, la plasticité anatomique viscérale des toiles rouges sanguinaires de l’artiste émergente Dafni Atha complète le caractère mystique de l'exposition.
