Villa Fabrica - The old olive's mill.

Wow! The Old Olive Mill is a gorgeous restoration, with a sun-trap courtyard for dining/reading/lounging and amazing views from the two balconies of the monastery across the valley. Blissfully quiet, interrupted only by tinkling goat and sheep bells and the little hoopoe bird singing its heart out from the telegraph wires. The village is tucked away, very quiet, with a little cafe and a great restaurant. Yet all this is only a twenty-thirty minute drive from Heraklion and Knossos. Perfect place from which to explore Crete, perfect villa, perfect holiday - and perfect hosts. Huge thanks to Manolis for the welcoming bottle of wine, recommendations for car hire, and amazingly prompt resonses to WhatsApp messages. We couldn't possibly have asked for anything more. Fabulous!

This beautiful, welcoming home was like living inside a gracious piece of living art. It has been painstakingly renovated as a labor of love by its owners, and everywhere you look, both inside and outside, is peace, order, beauty, and delight. We had everything we needed for our comfort and ease in this well-equipped house, including a beautifully working woodstove and an elegant bathtub. And of course I was not disappointed by the location: incredibly close to everything, including the airport, Heraklion, and all the major tourist sites, while serenely sequestered in a small hill village.
