"Time to say good-bye, ✈️ nakhuandis, arrivederci to Georgia and the shiny people I met here; still cannot fully believe that. Whatever the choice, it is hard to say! When the taxi was slowly driving through Tbilisi, stuck in the usual evening traffic, I was looking out of the window and remembering, at each corner of each road, an experience or a moment that I lived there… superfluous to say that a tear flowed down my cheek...🥲
This experience enriched me in a way I couldn’t imagine when, one year ago, I started traveling to the beautiful Sakartvelo. Arriving here I felt very strange; everything was different. I still remember my first walk around the neighborhood: the chaos on the streets, the bakeries with unknown foods which were calling me from the windows (I think during the first week I ate khachapuri at least twice a day), the people shouting in a language – back then – totally unknown to me. And then I lost the way, before realizing I was right on my apartment’s one.🧳
Now that the year is about to end, my mind is full of such small, but meaningful memories. Of course, “bigger” experiences are also very bright. For instance, the time we spent in Racha, hiking to the Bottomless Lake to spend there one night in the tent. That night it rained a lot and the wind was crazily strong for a few hours; three of us were squeezed in a tent for two, and we were laughing a lot,
imagining the worst possible scenarios, but knowing that in the end we would wake up the next day in front of an amazing alpine lake of a turquoise color.🏕
Apart from these memories, what made this year unforgettable were the people I met. Each and every one of them taught me a lot. Unfortunately, I could not say a proper good-bye to all of them, but they all have conquered a big space in my heart.
🚴♂️Places did the same: although it took me some time to see the real beauty of the landscapes of the country, now that I’m leaving, I’m 100% sure that Georgia – not that huge of a country after all – can accommodate all the tastes. From the beautiful Black Sea coast in the west, to the mountainous Lagodekhi and desert of Vashlovani in the east, passing through the Mediterranean climate areas of the center of the country, and the beautiful historical cities spread all over the territory… really everything!
All these adventures, meetings, and experiences made me grow personally, professionally, and helped me set goals in my life; all the things I wished for before leaving my home one year ago.🌈
My suggestion, if it wasn’t clear yet at this point, is: leave your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to embark on adventures that seem crazy at the beginning… they might lead you to unexpected points. I’m now on the way to Nepal, where a new chapter of my life will start. The past year, however, left a mark in me that will stay forever!🌼
Dzalian didi madloba Sakartvelo da chemi kartvelebi megobari! Miqvarkhart <3 this is for sure not a final good bye… more of a “See you very soon!”✈
🤝And of course, a big thanks to my sending and hosting organizations: EUROSUD , Newton NGO, International Center for Peace and Integration - ICPI without whom this experience would not have been possible. And another big thanks to the other organizations – English Proficiency Improvement - EPI Corner, Zero Effect • ზერო ეფექტიცოდნის კაფე/Knowledge Cafe– that hosted me during this year for various activities; without them, this experience would not have been the same."
The Project "DOOR FOR DISCOVERING" Was taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia in collaboration with EUROSUD from Italy.
