The word "Vardiashvili" which is a surname of this family, in Georgian language means as follows - "Vardi" - rose; and "Shvili"- son. Traditionally, the Vardiashvili family has always been associated with roses throughout the village, as there were many roses in the yard of their house, and one rose always planted at the top of every row of their vineyards.
Planting roses is a common experience used to prevent some diseases in vines(roses are considered to be structurally most similar to vines).

Nearly two years ago, three friends decided to take their winemaking skills seriously and created IQVE(αƒ˜αƒ₯ვე - in that same place) Winery. πŸ₯°
Using Georgian traditional method of fermenting juice in contact with skins and aging them in Qvevris, they are able to create unique flavors.

The history of Chelti Winery began a century ago.Β 

In the Shilda village, the ancestors of the Mirianashvili family built the first cellar in the household vineyards and expanded winemaking.

Chelty Winery has succeeded in the international market and gained worldwide recognition.

In 2019 at international competitions and exhibitions, Chelti Winery got 11 gold medals. Decanter jury named Chelti Saperavi among the best wines in the world.
In 2018, one of the Chelti Winery Qvevri wines – Saperavi, was presented to Prince Harry and Megan Markle as a celebration gift for their wedding.

Two of amazing grapes from Tibaani PDO - Kisi and Rkatsiteli πŸ₯‚ Fermented and aged with traditional Georgian method in Qvevris.
It is notable that both wines are amber-golden coloured, with peachy tones. During tasting it felt soft and had a long aftertaste.
