Ram Compare is a progeny trial carried out by AHDB across a number of commercial farms throughout the Uk. Great to see that when put up against the best of the rest Meatlinc rams do as they say on the tin, fast growing lambs that finish well and give a good carcass. Trail farmers also mention how easily born and vigorous lambs are at birth.

Ram Lambs dropped off at SRUC Edinburgh for CT scanning tomorrow. Weighing and back fat scanning will tell u so much, getting an actual picture of what the carcass is like is amazing and forms a big part of our sire selection. 130 + cross sections will accurately show muscle, fat and bone yield, as well as vertebrae number, length, eye muscle area and intramuscular fat/eating quality! We will select from these ram lambs our next stock sires which will enable the info to be passed down to their progeny.

Today we are performance scanning our April born Meatlinc lambs. By scanning for eye muscle and fat we can record each lambs growth and breeding potential.
