Anyway, I`ve email Banham Zoo about obtaining Tiger Poo.

I`ve asked if the Tiger Poo can be picked up by a The Happy Traffic Cone and if the Tigers would mind posing with him.

You know, as you do.

He can be an irritating little bastard but his heart is in the right place.

While we cooked a Cheats Fish and Chip supper he looked to trim some brambles that were starting to encroach the walkway on North Street.

"Inspired by today, to rest is to rust.", he said.

He is now off to the pub.

"I`ve started the speech. What do you think?

Remember, I need International coverage? Sort it for me."

Then he hung up.

Demanding little bastard.

Some may have noticed the "interesting" post we put up earlier in the week with regard to a potential Toby Jug featuring King Charles III and his magnificent ears (which would make the handles).

It`s fair to say we have not being inundated with local potters wanting to make this masterpiece.

But we`ve not given up on that one.

Anyway, nobody made any comments about King Charles III not being the King who features on our fabulous aging sign outside the pub.

That honour belongs to the medieval King John (king between 1199 - 1216).

King John is mostly famous for two things.

Firstly, he signed the Magna Carta. An act that most acknowledge is significant with regard to the movement to the traditional freedom`s that we hold dear in this country.

Secondly, he allegedly lost his treasure in the Wash. Reputedly, fairly close to Wisbech.

That treasure has never been found. But we suspect that this alleged incident is why he is the king on the sign outside the Kings Head?

Anyway, some may not know but there is a relatively prolific historical author called Diane Carlton Smith.

She wrote a book about King John losing his treasure "In the Wash" and she has written numerous other historical novels with a local setting.

These are well worth a look.

Wisbech has so much fascinating history on it`s doorstep.

And the Kings Head is very much part of that.

Remember, all will be welcome, every Friday night to pop in and enjoy a drink and a chat and talk about anything.

Life can be so full of co-incidences.

Yesterday, I caught one of the regulars (Martin) at our Quiz Night spotting a ladder while someone whitewashed a local antique shop on the edge of Wisbech`s Old Market https://capitalofthefens.org.uk/grannys-cupboard/ .

I made short polite conversation.

Looked like they were doing a good job.

Today, I was making small talk with the owner of another antique shop in the same area https://www.riverside-interiors.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoovX_MOmV1aDeDmB26_hQ6qlz87oTmp5-EgaPwM3mbK0dwa9fH2

Somehow conversation veered onto Jane Stuart, the allegedly illegitimate daughter of James II (of England) and the fact that she had lived in Granny`s Cupboard.

I`ve just "had a google" and found this lovely article from 2013 from the Wisbech Standard which is all about Jane Stuart.

"Jane settled in Wisbech and made her home in a basement room in a white house at the far end of the Old Market looking towards the Town Bridge, where she stayed until her death in 1742."

https://www.wisbechstandard.co.uk/news/22681986.jane-stuart-thought-daughter-former-king-england-james-ii-buried-wisbech/

I love the "Queen of Reapers" anecdote.

And how coincidental that I, seemingly, saw the building referred to being painted white yesterday!

You can make your own mind up but I think that they did a grand job (whitewashing).

Not fact checked any of the above but be more than interested in corrections and additions.

Fascinating history just 50 metres from where I work. :-)

There is fun to be had with all this.

Our highly paid Marketing Team have been considering how we could cash in on the fact that we are called "The Kings Head".

They have come up with an idea that needs a little bit of work.

The idea revolves around a pint Toby jug of King Charles III.

To keep things realistic the handles of the jug could be King Charles III's ears. As our King is known for his quite splendid ears. To be honest, the ears are critical.

Currently. A pint Toby Jug of King Charles III doesn't exist.

Our Marketing Team have suggested we attatch an existing pint Toby jug of Kings Charles I. So people get the idea.

We wondered if anyone knew of any local potters and artists who could knock up the mug for a decent price?

Bit rushed this morning, as a work day for me, but on my way out I found this book on the floor.

The Happy Traffic Cone was rocking in a chair, strangely, chanting repetitively,

"Corgito, Ergo Sum."

My mind wandered back to the sword that we proposed could be used to cut his head off.

Which, also, contained a Latin inscription.

Existence. Swords. Latin.

And all before breakfast.

Viva Fenland.
