Actually a week today. 🍊🍊🍊🍊 EDIT: just to be clear the citrus consciousness at the royal woke in wokesworth is a parody of the real International Marmalade Festival on Monday 2nd March 🙄

The 19th Annual Citrus Consciousness

Will be held at the Royal Woke on the 15th of March, 7pm sharp and vibrant with a distinctive bitterness.

Where we don’t just make marmalade; we curate moral superiority in a 12oz jar.

This isn’t a competition. It’s a validation of your superior lifestyle choices.

If your Seville oranges weren’t hand-massaged by a collective of retired librarians, you’re probably in the wrong room.

We’re looking for a preserve that doesn’t just taste good… it feels better than everyone else’s.

The Evening of Enlightenment:
• 7:00 PM: The Grand Unveiling. We will spend forty-five minutes discussing the “narrative arc” of our rinds.
• 7:45 PM: The Ethical Spread. Octavia and Jasper have curated a selection of “Artisan Toast” made from ancient grains harvested by moonlight. The tea is sustainable, carbon-neutral, and has never even heard of a plastic bag.
• 8:30 PM: The Bestowal of the Golden Spork. This isn’t an award for “best taste.” It’s an award for the person whose marmalade most effectively signals their commitment to a future we can all pretend to afford.

Categories for 2026:
• The Most Conscious Consistency: For the jar that achieved perfect suspension without the use of “aggressive” pectin.
• The Narrative Rind Award: For the peel that tells a story of resilience, equity, and high-end kitchenware.
• The Smuggest Seal: For the person who managed to mention their “small-batch process” more than twelve times before the first tasting.

Wokesworth: Because being right is the best ingredient.

Thanks so much for everyone’s support at last nights event. In particular to Amanda and Andy for their life saving CPR demo and Wood Street Dogs and Gunther for brilliant music. We raised £230 and we will top up an extra £100 so £330 in total raised for the British Heart Foundation.
