The Hind’s Head will continues to celebrate British cooking and the comsummate eclectic style that we have become known for over the past 11 years. On the ground floor, the Restaurant has been remodelled whilst conserving the historic feature and integrity of the building. The new concept offers a choice of a la carte and set menus changing and evolving on a monthly basis. Upstairs, our guests are

invited to explore the newly created Royal Lounge bar. An opulent space, perfect to indulge on our cocktail list, small batch gins and our fantastic Champagne and wine list combined with our new snack’s menu.

The Hind's Head has long been part of Bray, collecting plenty of stories along the way.

Heston took over the pub in 2004, and for the past 22 years it’s been home to pints, Sunday roasts and celebrations. But the place dates back much further than that (like half a century further back).

The pub has had its fair share of notable visitors over the years. In 1947, Prince Philip reportedly held his stag party here before marrying Princess Elizabeth, later Queen Elizabeth II. And she herself had a tea party here.

Recently, Bee emailed us one of her own memories of The Hind’s Head, which got us thinking about how many stories this old pub must hold. If you have a memory, photograph, or story connected to The Hind’s Head, we’d love to hear it. Please email us at: [email protected]

This: exploring Bray and the riverside. Then that: a roast lunch in a 15th-century pub. Sounds like the perfect Sunday to us.

And there's no need to rush. We serve our Sunday roasts until 8.30pm, leaving plenty of time to wander before settling in for your meal.

Of all the images of the British summer, there is almost nothing like strawberries and cream to get the senses, and the nostalgia, going.

According to Robin Weir in Recipes from the Dairy, Eton mess was first served in the 1930s in Eton College’s tuck shop, originally made with either strawberries or bananas mixed with ice cream or cream. Nowadays, the dish usually consists of pieces of crisp meringue, lightly whipped cream and strawberries, all stirred together - hence the name "mess". Although, as you might imagine, even our chefs’ mess is very precise.

There are venues, and then there are places that feel as though they were built for moments exactly like yours.

Our 15th-century pub offers the perfect backdrop for an intimate reception. Choose exclusive hire of the entire pub, or gather in the Vicar's Room, where a table hewn from a single piece of English oak seats up to 20 guests.
