Important Announcement from Gilbey’s Eton

After a wonderful weekend celebrating our 50th Golden Anniversary, it’s with a heavy heart that I share some news:
Our final trading day at Gilbey’s Eton will be Sunday, 27th July 2025.

Reaching this five-decade milestone has been a privilege. From our beginnings as The Eton Wine Bar to becoming Gilbey’s Bar, Restaurant & Townhouse, it’s been an unforgettable journey.

Following the loss of my brother Michael three years ago, I’ve carried on our shared dream, and I hope I’ve done him proud. But now, it’s time for me to retire and bring this chapter to a close.

We’ve seen trends come and go, but our aim has always been the same: to create joyful experiences through great food, wine, atmosphere, and heartfelt hospitality. I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with such amazing teams over the years – they’ve been the heartbeat of Gilbey’s.

Independent restaurants face mounting challenges post-Brexit and Covid, and we thank you for standing by us. Please continue to support your local independents – they need you now more than ever.

We’d love to see you before we close, to share a few more memories. Thank you for the love, loyalty and laughter over the years.
