William The Conqueror, the critically acclaimed, shape-shifting trio from Cornwall, have quietly established themselves as one of the UK’s most vital underground bands. Rooted in groove driven alt-rock and steeped in the storytelling traditions of folk and Americana, their sound is equal parts fuzz and finesse and has seen them tour with everyone from Bright Eyes to Nathaniel Ratliffe and Wilco, making records with Ethan Johns (Kings of Leon, Laura Marling) and Joseph Lorge (Phoebe Bridgers, Perfume Genius) along the way.

We need real change.

When we talk about inaccurate PRS billing, we’re talking about real venues facing real consequences.

Le Pub received an estimated bill triple their average annual usage whilst Sam Dabb was critically ill in hospital. Within weeks, it escalated to a CCJ.

"As a community owned business a CCJ is devastating and could be the end of the venue. We were exempt from any funding and blacklisted from negotiating with new suppliers. Our relationship with current suppliers was put at risk.

We were also living with the threat of bailiffs. At any point the PRS commissioned collections agency could have shown up and emptied the premises.

PRS are not for music. They threaten the future of venues and cause so much unnecessary anxiety and stress."

This is why we launched Set The Record Straight.

So far, MVT has identified more than £666k worth of inaccurate PRS invoices issued to grassroots music venues across the UK.
