Good evening the Old Inn Followers.

This is a long read but hopefully a helpful one.

Really sorry its been a while since our last post but to be fair not, having electricity for 8 days really did throw a spanner in the works. I'm a bit of a planner and this really didn't help lol.

So here is an update of where we are as of today:

Due to the electricity issues the bar and cellar are WAYYYY behind where i wanted them to be but hey we are moving as quickly as we can to launch 10 tap beers / ciders and 2 hand pumped beers. Yes 12 beers in a country inn that is something to be proud off. 😇
Along with over 20 spirits / 20 w**es and a massive array of bar nibbles, I think we have it right, only you can tell us that 😘

The kitchen is now sparkling clean with all the new equipment so as to deliver you a very comprehensive menu. We will soon be going through the food hygiene award scheme, so fingers crossed we achieve a 5 star rating.

The Snug and Family dining rooms are being kitted out and will look beautiful when we open.

The restaurant has been fully painted, wallpapered and carpet, furniture professionally cleaned. We are cutting down the table numbers in there as we are aiming for Quality not quantity.

Dave the chef is really looking forward to meeting you all and serving you all with fantastic fresh produce. We have teamed up with Black More Vale Butchers and 2 other local providers, so as to try and keep the produce provision local.

The 3 pods at the rear of the building are very nearly complete and are looking amazing. Fully fitted out with new equipment,
makes them a great place to stay. We will be launching them as soon as the photographer takes the pictures and booking.com goes live 😍

The last 2 months we have established a business that will hopefully work. Hospitality is in a mess at present so please support us in any way possible. We are only as good as the people we serve 😇😇😇

Thursday 12pm - 2pm lunch menu
5pm - 9pm Normal menu
Fridays 12pm - 2pm lunch menu

Wed & Thursday bar closes at 10pm

Sunday 1st November from 12pm - 4pm for food then 4pm - 6pm for drinks. We will be providing nibbles for you all so please come and say hello. All Draughts have 25% off for the opening day including w**e and spirits until 4pm.

Throughout the works you have all been phenomenal with your help and advice and we truly appreciate it. We will endeavour to represent you all as a business that cares for the local people and a business that delivers the expectations for you all 😁😁😁😁😁😁

In less than a month we will be opening our doors to the wonderful people of Holton. It's been a very painful 6 weeks, a shed load of work and hopefully it will make a difference to those who LOVE this country Inn.

We still have a few dramas to address, a menu to fine tune and a bar to stock along with a magnificent selection of w**es and spirits list to follow 😍

The pods will be completed by Tuesday next week with 2 of them being Kingsize beds and 1 double. All furniture brand new and beautifully done with outside seating too 😇

Booking system will be worked on next week, stock ordered and the bar displaying a plethora of hand pumped ales, ciders,IPA's, Guinness and some differing options for you.

Our intention is to give you all a taste of what's to come next week 😎

The First Draft of our menu:

As promised here is the first draft of our menu. This gives you all a taster of what we are looking to offer. Hopefully there is something for everyone. As you will see there is a fair few Gluten Free GF meals. We have not put prices on the menu as we need to tie down the prices with the suppliers, this is not a quick process. We want Quality, value and products that stand out from others.

We still have a lot to do at site as there's been a few hiccups but hey, that makes it more of a challenge. The new signage on the Inn looks amazing along with the one at the end of the road.

We are still on track to the proposed open dates and if these change, you all will be the first to know.😁

A massive thankyou to the local people who have taken us in hand and shown us nothing but love "So far" lol😘

Staff are employed, menu done, bar looking amazing and restaurant nearly there, so we are on track 🙂‍↔️

Good evening Old Inn followers::

Just an update to where we are, and what we are planning to do going forward?

The bar has a wee bit of painting needed to one of the windows.
Bar pumps are in.
All tables refurbished and looking amazing in the bar.
Floor, machine cleaned and looking crisp and clean.
Behind the bar will be completed tomorrow, so we are nearly there with some new bits required for us to get up and running.

The snug has most of the new chesterfield furniture in there, and the painting nearly complete.

Kitchen and pot washing room completely cleaned, and now looking like they should, "environmentally sound".
New equipment purchased and hopefully commissioned tomorrow ?

Toilets have had a little bit of a makeover, and we are confident you will like them on your return.

The old shop room we are changing into a family room, with a stunning 6 seater mango wood table and beautiful comfortable chairs.
Also in the room will be 2 tables and chairs for those couples who may want a quieter area to eat in or if coming as a big group, the room can cater for 12 people making it a private dining area if needed.

The restaurant we are working on next, but to date we have painted all the walls apart from the feature wall which now houses a beautiful wall paper softening the room for our guests.
The leather chairs have ALL been professionally cleaned and they look stunning.
We are knocking the numbers down to how many tables are available,so the chef can focus on quality rather than quantity.

The pods and outside areas will be complete by the end of next week, so all on track for our grand opening.
We will be open from the 5th November.
The new booking system is being introduced to the new EPOS system so booking a table etc should be very easy to do " watch this space".

HOT OFF THE PRESS.

The menu we are hoping to display by the end of next week,if not sooner. We just need to tweak a few things.
Most of the products will be purchased locally, where possible therefore putting money back into the local economy.

We will be opening as follows, but this may change as there's factors associated with this 🙃

We will be serving food Wednesday - Sunday with a Sunday being a roast day and a Wednesday "carnivores feast night" tbc.

We now have all of the staff needed to deliver our expectations but we will make mistakes " because we are human".

Good evening followers:

After a hard week at the Inn, we have definately broke the back of what is needed for us to open.
We have this week spent most of the week Painting and putting things right.

Today we have papered the main wall in the restaurant along with a little revamp of the ladies toilets.
Kitchen cleaned and ready for the new chef to take the reins.

All leather seating including the new seating professionally cleaned and looking amazing.

This week there will be a team of builders etc getting the building and its mechanics right so once again all hands on deck.

We are looking to opening on Thursday 5th November, sorry no bonfires allowed lol.
As we develop with the new chef James, we will broadcast what's happening as we approach the open day.

So please keep up with us and bear with us as we progress. It's been a hard first month but they do say things get better 😄😄😄

We now have a chef by the name of James. He comes with many years experience.

We are all working towards a fantastic menu, and looking to have this on here within the next 2 weeks.

Small Update:

We are hoping to open early November, but this is down to many factors:

* Somerset Council to grant the licence in time, as nothing is ever easy?

* We get the new lines in for the 9 draughts and 2 hand pump beers soon?

* The Inn is complete and all works done to plan over the next 5 weeks.

If we do not get a chef that fits the offerings in time, we will delay food until the right person takes up the post. We are not just looking for a chef we are looking for someone who understands what we are aiming to achieve. We absolutely need a team player and someone who gets it 😇

This applies to the rest of our staff who we will be meeting in person soon. For those who have applied we will be in contact with you all very soon. We appreciate it's taken time but the work we have needed to do has been relentless.

There is no point opening such a beautiful building until we are ready. As stated a few times from the local people Ali and I don't want to sit in a category of " yet again another couple" who haven't delivered 🥰😉🤯

We should have finished cleaning the kitchen tomorrow that has been horrific. The restaurant we are bringing back to its former glory and that will start tonight. A small revamp of the toilets is taking place with a few little tweaks to making them prettier.

The pods we are totally changing inside. The beds in the end two will be king size beds and the one in
the middle a double. The middle one will be slightly cheaper than the other two.

Finally once we have a chef we will put our opening hours out for you all to see and to when we are doing food 🤩🙃😇🫣

This requires friendly and efficient Customer Service Skills combined with good Health and Safety Awareness. With involvement both in the initial launch and day to day running of the Old Inn, you will ideally have professional qualifications related to the positions on offer alongside bundles of experience and enthusiasm.

Good Morning Holton and surrounding villages residents:

Just an update to where we are with the Old Inn for those interested.

Bar refurbishment is now complete along with snug and they look amazing. We have brought back the beams, painted the walls and ceiling along with the beautiful windows. We have a few bits we need to sort on the windows themselves over the next 2 weeks so please bear with us.

The Snug area has had a paint along with the beams brought back black so as to show how beautiful the inside of this building can be. We have also purchased chesterfield couches along with high back chairs and vintage tables so it is going to look amazing.

The Dining area is getting a fresh coat of paint next week along with a feature wall and a full refurb of the tables and chairs. We are reinstating the classic wall lights and yes unlike others, we will be putting the heating on in the winter for those dining with us.

The shop as it was previously known will also be resurrected but this room will be a family dining area with a beautiful mango table and amazing comfortable chairs for 6 to sit at, along with 2 x 2 couples tables for a quieter atmosphere than potentially the diner.

The toilets will be getting a complete clean and they will look and smell amazing.

The outside areas as you may have noticed has had a bit of a refurb with the supporting low level fence line being replaced in sections but more importantly painted black and looking much better. The oak to the exterior of the building has also been painted black so as to keep in within the look of the building. The black poles have been removed and will not be coming back. The look of this stunning building is important to us.

For everyone that has said hello we personally thank you for making us feel really welcome. We will do our utmost to make this Inn what it used to be and feedback is important to us, but please do not forget Rome was not built in a day.

The bar will have 10 options on draught some really funky stuff and w**es and spirits very different to what you would get in a public house. We thrive on being different to others as thinking outside the box is one of our key skills as a partnership. There will be classics on the menu and of course some offerings that are quirky.

We are employing staff over the next 4 weeks so as soon as we have a menu i will put it on here first.

I really hope this update helps those who are interested in the progress of the Old Inn so far ( 3 weeks in)
