Well that's it. The cat was out of the bag with our regulars a couple of weeks ago, but now, to dispel the gossip and rumours, we've decided to let it be known to everyone, that our 10 years are up in March, and we are not renewing the lease.
I would like to say that it's been a pleasure, but with covid, the cost of living crisis, several bereavements plus many, many other personal and business issues, it's been a long, hard slog. It will be bitter sweet to finally walk out of these doors, as I have made so many dear friends (and enemies 🤣) over my 25 years here, but I know for sure that it's the right decision.
With regards to the future of Gathurst Station Inn itself, as to whether it will re-open, well that is now in the hands of the landlords. We have tried our best to keep it open, with a potential buyer lined up, but they have decided to 'take back control of the building'. We're devastated that the little community we have worked so hard to keep together will now be broken up. We can only hope that it does reopen at some point again in the future, with fresh eyes, perspective and enthusiasm.
We do not have an exact date of closure yet, however we will announce this in due course.
