These weekends come round and the sun keeps shining and this week is no exception here in Whitby! We are also lucky to be involved in the relaunch of a legend. Back in 1822 Samuel Allsopp brewed the first IPA, which was a hoppy brew designed to withstand the journey to India. This weekend we will have Allsopp’s IPA on our bar for the first time. Expect big flavours from luxuriant, sweet malt base and a generous additions of Golden Promise and Challenger hops. There are no cut corners with this one, it’s trad brewing at its best, so come along and taste something uniquely derived from our brewing heritage! 🍺🍻

If IPA isn’t your thing we have Helmsley core ales from £4.20 a pint and guests from Rudgate, Bradfield Brewery and Leeds Brewery, it’s all gravy. We also have 6 keg offerings, curated w**es, artisan spirits and delicious cocktails that can be enjoyed with award winning street food from Yuzu! 🍷🥂🍸☕️🍹🍜

There is also Chelsea v Everton on the mega screen on Saturday lunchtime and our historic venue is starting to transform for Autumn and Halloween. Lots to enjoy here on the cobbles in Whitby’s wonderful old town! ⚽️💀👻

It’s starting to feel a bit more autumnal here on the cobbles and Hatty has been busy putting together our seasonal cocktail menu. Don’t worry, it isn’t actually poisonous, but it is dangerously delicious!

This week also brings the return of European football and we will be focusing on the English teams on the mega screen. The kitchen will stay open until kick off, so you can enjoy an award-winning supper and a few b**rs in front of the game! Book you tables on socials or on b**[email protected]

Here at The Taproom we love our b**r! We are owned by a fantastic local brewery that delivers fresh local ales to us every week. We also bring in guests from some of our favourite brewers, including Kirkstall, Bradfield and Brew York and we intend to broaden our supplier list between now and Christmas. 🍺🍻

We also stock the wonderful Whitby Distillery range and love to mix up a storm of cocktails from our ever-changing menu. 🍸🍹🧋

This weekend we will also formally launch our new and extended w**e list, which contains a bigger range of carefully curated w**es for you to try and enjoy, so come in and try it out! 🍾🍷

It’s also promises to be another sunny one, so the outside space will be open and ready for you. Indoors we will also be showing the Arsenal v Leeds game on the mega screen on Saturday at 12.30, so come in to see if Yorkshire’s best can bloody the nose of the champions! ⚽️🏟️

All of this can be enjoyed with delicious street food from YUZU Street Food and the warmest of North Yorkshire welcomes, so come and see us!! 🥢🤗

October is underway but the weather still looks peachy for the weekend in Whitby, which is great news. Our alfresco area will be the place to enjoy award winning fresh local ales and street food from YUZU Street Food. Helmsley ales start from £4.20 a pint and we have guests from Kirkstall and Bradfiel, as well as Veltins Pilsner, Guinness and delicious Aspall Ciider! If long drinks aren’t your thing we have our new w**e list, spirits form Whitby Distillery and our hand-crafted cocktails!

On Saturday we will also be showing the England/Croatia football match on the mega screen at 5pm, which means that you can combine all of the above with international football in a lively atmosphere!

If that’s not enough, Tuesday sees the return of our quiz, which is multi-round and lots of fun. We recommend that you book a table to show us what you know and enjoy street food and midweek drinks. There is a prize for the winners!

So is this officially an ‘Indian Summer?’ The warm sunny weather continues into the weekend here in Whitby and we are looking forward to looking after as many of you as possible, outside on the patio or inside of our historic venue. No gimmicks, just quality and value, starting with award-winning street food from Yuzu, fresh local ales from Helmsley and Bradfield and keg options from Kirkstall, Guinness, Veltins and Dortmunder. All top quality and starting at £4.20 a scoop. If b**r isn’t your thing we have Aspall, Apple Shed, curated w**es, Whitby Distillery spirits and hand-prepared cocktails.

WE ARE HIRING!!

We have decided that we need to add further experience and talent to our team!

We are looking for a full/part-time member of our bar team, ideally with some quality experience, however, full training will be given.

You will need to be a reliable, team oriented person who is hard working and willing to fit in around our rota, which will include weekend work. A desire to help us to keep improving our customer service would be particularly welcomed.

It’s 60s weekend in Whitby and we will be playing 60s tunes from Saturday afternoon into the evening. Before that we will be showing Spurs v Villa on the mega screen to decide who is going to be the crisis club heading into the international break!

Around that we will be serving award- winning ales from Helmsley and Kirkstall Brewery, along with delicious streetfood from our friends at Yuzu. If you don’t drink ales we have craft b**rs and c***r, curated w**es, Whitby Distillery spirits and hand-crafted cocktails. We don’t take booking on Saturday, so just come in and enjoy the fun!
