Whitby’s newest dark curiosity has opened its doors on Church Street 🖤

In the heart of Whitby, a former post office has become Whitby Crown, a Bram Stoker-themed bar that combines gothic storytelling, local history, and the town’s well-known Dracula links.

Located on the cobbled streets of Church Street, this venue gives visitors something unique with its moody interiors, interesting artefacts, and an immersive atmosphere inspired by Whitby’s role in gothic fiction.

A highlight is the Whitby jet and gold crown, made by local jewellers Hamond’s, which pays tribute to the town’s jet industry. Visitors can also spot unusual items around the bar, like a wooden stake signed by Bram Stoker’s grandson.

Whitby Crown mixes heritage, myth, and a bit of drama, making it a memorable place for Dracula fans, those who enjoy the unusual, or anyone wanting to find something new in town.

Have you been for a drink at this recently opened new bar on church street in whitby?
Before becoming The Whitby Crown, the atmospheric Bram Stoker and Dracula-themed bar, the Grade II-listed building at 100 Church Street was best known as Whitby's historic Old Post Office. Dating back to the 18th century, the property has played several roles throughout its history, including serving as the town's post office and later as a local card shop. Following a careful restoration, the building has been transformed into an immersive gothic venue that celebrates Whitby's famous connection to Bram Stoker's Dracula, blending the town's rich heritage with a unique visitor experience.

The Whitby Crown has opened its Dracula‑themed Gothic Bar — a shadowy, candlelit hideaway that leans fully into Whitby’s dark side. Deep reds, eerie corners, a proper atmospheric feel… and yes, the now‑famous eyeball cocktails that look like they’ve come straight out of a vampire’s pantry.

We are officially crowning ourselves the worst explorers in town but we finally got the job done 👑

We marched back into The Whitby Crown on a strict mission to locate the facilities. Ignoring the incredible drinks menu was difficult but we finally opened the door to discover a giant skull staring right back at us. It was absolutely worth the wait and the multiple return trips 💀

This is exactly why we love the independent venues on our coast. Only in a town famous for vampires and Goth Weekends could a pub get away with a giant bone shaped toilet. It feels right at home nestled in the old brickwork of Church Street 🧛‍♂️

We are genuinely thrilled to put this local mystery to bed. We can now go back to enjoying those amazing lychee eyeball cocktails without the looming pressure of our unsolved bathroom investigation hanging over our heads. It is definitely the most entertaining plumbing we have seen since the great swing bridge malfunction 🌉
