Every slide, every story... everything should be able to defend itself in a presentation. Does it make your desired outcome more likely? If not, ditch it. Anything that's not moving the boat forwards isn't neutral, it's dragging it backwards by confusing your audience and giving them irrelevant stuff to remember...
