🚚 The UK Removals industry is one that is largely unregulated, so anyone with a van can legally start up a removal business. No licence of any kind is required, there are no background checks needed, and there is no government-backed regulatory body to protect the consumer.

🚨 Instead, professional standards are maintained through membership organisations like the British Association of Removers (BAR), which requires its members to pass annual inspections; adhere to a stringent - Trading Standards approved - code of practice; provide consumer protection and redress options; and provide every customer with a formal removals contract for their protection, which sets out exactly what is and isn't included in the move.

➡️ BAR Membership isn't free, and neither is it a 'pay-as-you-go' organisation that simply takes an annual payment every year, and in return allows its members to promote the badge. Instead members must - each and very year - meet the standards required of being a member of the BAR, a trade association which has represented the professional removals industry for over 125 years.

✅ So when you choose a BAR Member you have the backing of an organisation that has been setting the standards for the removals and storage for over a century, providing critical safeguards that benefit both professional removal companies and their customers alike.
