Warrington Folk Song Club

Warrington Folk Song Club An acoustic singers', poets and musicians' session - mostly run by Geoffrey Bibby. All welcome. This is on almost every Sunday night from 20.30 until 23.00.

It is NOT a folk club, as we have a wide variety of musical tastes, but there is, obviously, quite a lot of what people think of as folk music played and sung. Generally, it is £1 to join in, whether you are a performer or just an enthusiastic listener. At a few times through the year, we invite "guest" performers and pay them! This means that we have to charge for entry - usually around £6 per he

ad. This is peanuts for hearing and meeting some of the nationally famous performers who have been with us - and international in some cases. A "normal" night consists of everyone in attendance being invited to sing, play, recite, juggle or whatever for about five minutes at a time until all have had a turn who want to, then it starts again if time is left.

Just three hours until this evening's session begins.
Tonight is a "normal" night with everyone having a chance to perform a couple of songs, tunes, poems, or similar, hopefully before the half-time break for drink refreshments.
As always, audience members are also welcome, or just come in to see what happens on during a singaround session.

All performers and audience welcome for just a meagre £1 contribution to our guests fund. Come and enjoy the music and song, join in if you like, perform something if you like.

A message from Ray's eldest daughter;
"Hi to anyone that would like to add their condolences and raise a Guinness or 2 to dad it will be on Thursday 26th march from 6.30 pm. In memory of dad we will put on a buffet and there will be some people there singing. It will be at the Albion pub on Battersby Lane. thank you x x x"

Tomorrow evening, 8th March, we have a guest musician/singer in the person of Raphael Callaghan.
The evening will begin at 8.30pm with some songs from Geoff before Raphael takes over. It is strongly recommended that you arrive in time for the start in order to get a seat and to purchase your first drink in time to take your seat before the music commences.
