ARTISTS - if you exhibited with us & work is still at the bar please pop in over the weekend to collect it. Access cannot be guaranteed after that. If you can't then please get in touch & we can arrange collection at an alternative venue X

It is with great regret & sadness we announce that Wakefield Beer Exchange will call time for good on Sunday August 5th.

We appreciate that this will come as a shock to many of our customers, though perhaps the eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that we've struggled to invest financially where it was needed for some time, as keeping the doors open became the sole priority. Sadly even that is now impossible. When basic costs of rent, rates, wages & utilities outweigh income, the result is sadly inevitable and an administrator has been instructed.

There is interest from other parties in taking on the property and some suggestion that a similar style of offer will be available so there may be a legacy of sorts for all of you who enjoyed Wakefield Beer Exchange.

Everyone involved in the bar is proud to have created a place that championed independent beer, business and creativity in its many forms in this vibrant, unpredictable and unique city. Our aim to open an inclusive, relaxed venue that reflected our passion for beer, music and art that all could enjoy was achieved, at least for some time.

The biggest thanks in that regard must go to a fantastic team of staff and our brilliant customers who truly made the place what it was.

To everyone who helped us along the way, thank you so much. Your enthusiasm and kindness were inspirational.

To see us off properly – please come down and drink up our remaining stock – cask beer pints all will be £2.50 and there will be 25% off all bottles and cans until we run out.

Thanks again - it's been a real pleasure.
