Hello
We have not posted on here since our beloved Jolly Tap closed down in Summer 2023.
Now, we have returned.
You’ll find us at the new Wakefield Exchange venue on Union Street. We have our Exchange Tap serving JOLLY BOYS' Brewery ales and also supporting a variety of food outlets.
Lots of events planned including brewery tours at the brewery’s new home-yes! At the Wakefield Exchange!
Come and see us this week, or perhaps come and enjoy some live music on Friday. Cheers. It’s great to be back in Wakey.

Good grief! How lovely is this???

Hello everyone.

We are thrilled to share this with you-our original pub sign, designed by the brilliant Gareth Wood.
We’d also like to thank you for all your support, likes and shares on this page. It’s much appreciated. We are a small and passionate team who have invested much into bringing the real ale dream to Moorthorpe.
Many of you have sensibly asked when we are opening! Rather than set a date and then find out we can’t achieve it, we will confirm opening with you on here this Thursday. We’re not opening this Thursday, just confirming a date. Hope that’s ok. We’re thirsty as well!
We will have a great choice of ales, ciders and a top notch lager. Also, wines, gins, and spirits.
We hope you can help us make this venture a great success and support us in making Moorthorpe a fantastic destination and something for us all to be proud of.

Hello everyone.
This weekend will sadly be our last at our home on Northgate for the last five years. It's been so great. Thank you so much for all the kind and supportive comments on previous posts as well as those of you who've been able to get in for a drink.
On Saturday, it'll be business-as-usual with some live music around teatime and into the evening.
Sunday is Wakefield Pride and we will obviously do our best to support that with the bar open as usual.
We'll be calling time on Sunday night and that'll be us.
Thanks again to all our customers, regulars, community groups, do-ers, musicians, artists, supporters and breweries, who have supported us in Wakefield. We hope to return again in the future.
Please continue to follow this page as we do plan to keep it alive.

Tomorrow night is the second Tuesday of the month which means it's time for Wakefield's oldest comedy night to set sail once again as Jockularity returns. This month is a special occasion for two reasons. Firstly, it's an LGBTQ+ special to coincide with Wakefield Pride 2022 next weekend and secondly it is the final edition of Jockulrity to be held at the wonderful Jolly Boys' Real Ale Cafe as the bar is closing this month. We'll be carrying on at The Hop Wakefield Wakefield in September but we are determined to give Jolly Boys the best night of comdy the city has had to offer
