Did you know The Rose & Crown is a Grade II listed building with a story stretching back centuries?
At 21 Stour Lane, the building began life as four separate houses, built across the mid-18th and early 19th centuries. Sometime between 1833 and 1845, those homes became the pub that locals know and love today.
One of its early licensees was George Rose, and over the years it became known locally as “The Top House”.
So, when you step through our doors, you’re not just visiting an old pub. You’re enjoying a proper piece of Wadsley history, full of character, stories and community spirit.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support The Rose & Crown and keeps this special local at the heart of Wadsley. 🍻
