Its been a bit hectic with all the moving and getting things straight and tidy for the new tenant Nik ,we havnt had a chance to goodbye properly
Originally only here as a temporary job 18 months ago we signed the lease in July 2024 ,The summer was ok but the winter was hard ,money was tight ,nothing to invest plus Martin had a stroke in january and with the cooling off period in our lease coming up brought us to make the difficult decision to give notice
We have tried to deliver great service, homemade food ,roast dinners and cask ales at a good price but even 2 meals for £16 meal deals was not enough to get people in the door ,that was the hardest part hearing people say i havnt been in here for years,been meaning to come in,how long have you been reopened?
We stayed a bit longer to ensure the albion didnt go through another period of closure,so would like to think we have done a little bit for the good folk of Verwood.
We made many good friends while we were here ,and had lots of help from people who care about their local
We will miss you all ,we hope with a bit of investment and Niks experience running the successful Cuckoo in the new forest the albion can thrive and last for generations to come to enjoy this historic pub

Hello everyone.

My name is Nik and i take over the Albion Inn from today. I have a beautiful family of 5. My wife Sofia, my 2 daughters Aria and Jo and my new born son Ektor!

I have one more pub called The Cuckoo Inn, Hamptworth.
(if you need anything and cant hold of the number please feel free to call the Cuckoo Inn and ask for Nik (me). Happy to discuss anything you might have in mind.

We had the chance to meet with Martin and Julie and we hope we will continue to build the Albion and we might dare say take it even further!

We will be open 11:30am to 11pm every day Monday to Sunday (few changes on opening/closing times may happen in the future!)

We will serve food every day Monday to Sunday and we will do traditional English food with a greek twist. Food will be served every day from 12:00 - 20:00. Bookings are advised. Contact will be still the 07858 018 655 for the Albion (at least for now)

This page will be shut in few months and we created a new one so we can leave Martin and Julie alone !!

We aim to open Friday 10th of October but please keep an eye to our FB page for updates!

There is no food this week ,if your in albion way and havnt yet been in for double egg chips and beans then youve missed out

Our phone has always been a bit temperamental since getting involved with BT 15 months ago ,not being able to recieve calls fron BT and EE customers ,finally got to the bottom of it 2 days ago but now because of the non BT suppliers contract finishing our landline is not working

We thought we would put the record straight to try to stop the comments re The Albion closing.
we are not looking for advise of what we should do or should have done ,commenting to bulldoze the place wont help, some of the comments we have seen are unnecessary and hurtful. be nice.
for those of you who havn't been in during the last 15 months and do not know ,the tenants are Martin and Julie who have feelings and care about the Albion and Verwood
Martin had a stroke a couple of months ago and as we have a cooling off period within our contract it allows us to give notice ,past that there is no notice period and you are expected to see out the rest of the four and a half years left .if things went wrong we could potentially be expected to be paying Stonegate back for the rest of our lives
Martin cant put the hours in like he used to 12 hour days 7 days a week and the lifestyle takes it toll and health comes first ,
yes there are financial issues but not as bad as everyone thinks.
it has taken time for people to realise that the Albion serves good homemade food at reasonable prices ,not just double egg chips and beans ,the customers now discovering us we could have done with 6 months ago ,the winter wasnt good the storms cost us thousands but we can make money over the summer.
The government has put at least an extra £10,000 on our costs in the budget and coupled with a price rise on average of 6% from stonegate next winter would be tougher so now is the right time to leave while we still can
we will be here until at least the end of july possibly september so please support us ,we still need to earn a living and a going concern will be more attractive to a new tenant.
Hopefully a new tenant will be found ,we were originally only temporary ourselves ,theres a good bunch of regulars here who support the Albion who are unhappy with the news and we will be sad to go but Martins health comes first
