The Blenheim Pub - Ventnor

The Blenheim Pub - Ventnor 🍻 The Blenheim – your friendly local pub in the heart of Ventnor, Isle of Wight 🌊 Rich in history, full of character, and stocked with great drinks!

Pop in for a pint, good vibes & a warm welcome 🍺 Welcome to The Blenheim – a true Ventnor gem 🍻

Nestled in the heart of Ventnor on the beautiful Isle of Wight, The Blenheim has a story as rich as the town itself. Once known as Blenheim House, this building began life as a wine and spirit merchant, supplying the island with fine drinks and good cheer. Over the

years, it became home to several well-known bars including Burts, Longs, Brickwoods, and Threshers, before finally being transformed into a pub by Whitbread – and The Blenheim we know and love was born. Ventnor, once a quiet fishing hamlet, rose to fame in the 19th century as a Victorian health and holiday resort. Its unique microclimate was praised by physicians for aiding lung conditions, and the arrival of the railway in 1866 brought tourists in their thousands to experience what became known as the “English Mediterranean”. Much like the town, The Blenheim has evolved with time while holding onto its charm and character. Today, it’s a favourite local spot known for its friendly atmosphere, great selection of drinks, and warm welcome to locals and visitors alike. Whether you're popping in for a pint, soaking up the coastal vibe, or catching up with friends, The Blenheim is the perfect place to raise a glass in one of the Isle of Wight’s most historic seaside towns 🌊🍺

Statement from The Blenheim

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that The Blenheim will be closing its doors on 16th March.

Due to the ongoing challenges of rising costs and significant building repairs, we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to close for the foreseeable future.

This is not the outcome we had hoped for. We are so proud of what we have built here and of the amazing community that has supported us every step of the way. The friendships, the laughter, the live music, the match days and the memories made within these walls will always mean the world to us.

We are especially thinking of our wonderful staff, who have worked so hard and given so much heart to this place.

We want to say a sincere thank you to every single person who has walked through our doors, supported events, shared a drink with friends, or simply popped in to say hello. You have been the reason The Blenheim has been what it is.

We will continue to trade until 16th March and would love to see as many of you as possible before then. Let’s make these final weeks ones to remember.

With gratitude,
The Blenheim Team

Not quite spring in Ventnor just yet… but you can feel it coming 🌸

There’s a hint of colour returning, a little more light in the afternoons and that fresh sea air that makes everything feel like a new season is on its way.

We’re nearly there. Longer days, brighter skies and those first proper spring moments are just around the corner 💛

There’s something really special about the Ventnor Downs 🌿

Rising steeply above the Victorian seaside town of Ventnor, the Downs offer some of the most breathtaking views on the Island. With the sparkling sea below and holm oak trees clinging to the south facing chalk slopes, parts of the landscape almost feel Mediterranean.

Head up to the top and everything changes. Wide open spaces of grass and heather stretch out before you, creating a completely different atmosphere. It’s one of those places that rewards you every single time you visit, whether it’s for the wildlife, the peacefulness or those panoramic views.

You can drive up and park near the level footpaths, or if you’re feeling energetic, climb up from Ventnor and truly earn your supper.

In spring, please remember we share this beautiful space with ground nesting birds like skylarks and meadow pipits. Keeping dogs under close control and sticking to marked paths really does make a difference to their survival.

And if you’re lucky, you might even spot the herd of Old English goats grazing on Bonchurch Down and Coombe Bottom. Introduced in 1993, they help protect the precious chalk grassland by keeping scrub and holm oak in check.

A walk on the Downs isn’t just a walk. It’s fresh air, wildlife, history and some of the best views the Isle of Wight has to offer 💛
