We're at the Isle of Wight Wedding Fayre at Ventnor Botanical Gardens today. We couldn't bring Piccadilly Lily because of the mud where she's stored thanks to the storm yesterday but come and have a chat with us.

Here it is, a work in progress, will be updated as things develop, thanks for checking it out.

Piccadilly Lily was built as a auxiliary towing vehicle (ATV) in March 1943. She was used by London Fire Brigade (NFS) and whilst in their care, she had further conversions into a pump salvage. However at some stage we donโ€™t know when, the fire service had her converted into a mobile canteen and she was sent to be used in the CIty of Bristol towards the latter end of WWII.

Post war she was selected, due to her good condition and as a canteen van by the home office to be retained for the Cold War. Her role was to be part of the mobile columns along with other vehicles including the wonderful Bedford green goddess fire engine.

Only to be used in the event of a nuclear war. She was kept in this role until around 1972 thankfully in dry storage, finally sold off and brought to be used as a camper van from a garage sale in Swansea, which funny enough included the other green goddess fire engines.

We brought the van in 2003 and commenced on a lengthy restoration to how you see her now. She has appeared in a couple of TV roles โ€œOver hereโ€ with Martin Clunes , Band of Brothers, Goodwood Revival and more recently filmed for the new series of antiques road show.

We have now, after many years of encouragement from friends and family, we have decided to bring her out to be used at special functions and events only.

We provide the normal refreshments, however, we can provided specialty teas, coffees and home made cakes.

All served in that 40โ€™s style.
