Hi All

Can you help Jac Moody

Below her post asking for help for those in need.

Any contributions from choir members can be picked up on Thursday 29th Oct.

Thanks for taking time to read this.

Dear Friends. I need your help please - if you can. Like most people in this country, I have felt sick these last 2 weeks by the betrayal of Ukraine by a so called ally - and those poor men fighting on the front line have been on my mind. There isn't a lot we can do as individuals - but we can all do a little. I made a few phone calls to find out what they need most, and have arranged to do a collection of medical things (they are desperately short) and adult thermal clothing (not coats) to drop off with a North East animal charity that supplies support to Ukraine via the much larger Puma charity in Plymouth. Trucks are going over there in mid November - so I have to get the medical things to the animal charity by the 3rd of November. I am hoping to collect a few boxes.

So - could you please have a sort out of your medications and first aid supplies. They have asked for absolutely anything - they need eveything - even if it is out of date or open. It is heartbreaking. If you could do this before the end of October and message me and I can collect whatever you have (even if it is just a couple of items) and take it straight to Newcastle to be packed up.

Most of all - for the men and women at the front - they want any in date "over the counter" meds. Especially pain killers. So if you could put a pack of paracetamol or ibuprofen into your next shop they would be grateful. But anything from throat lozenges to fungal foot cream. Even if the packets are open.

They are also in desperate need of wipes, sterile gauze, cotton wool, bandages, and antiseptic. And - very sadly - walking sticks, zimmer frames, "moon boots", slings - and any other equipment to help people with missing or damaged limbs.

For humans the meds have to be in date. BUT the volunteer and local vets out there can use many human meds off label for the dogs and cats (everything from heart or kidney meds to antibiotics and creams and bandages), and out of date meds or first aid things can be packed up with the aid for animals and put to very good use - whereas here all out of date meds are destroyed. Lots of pets were left in the shelters when the women and children fled, or when homes are destroyed, and when the men were called up. Please leave the medications- anything at all -in the packets or pots but remove/scribble out your name and personal details (if you forget, I will do it). Again - please message me and I will collect them. And please ask your work colleagues and friends. Most of us have quite a few out of date meds or bandages knocking about.

For reasons of not attracting criminals or addicts, I won't be storing medications at home - but will be dropping them off in boxes straightaway at a collection point that will remain confidential.

Thank you friends for your help. I have been told it will be very much appreciated. I have a whole list of things that are needed, but have decided to focus on medical supplies and adult thermal underwear as it isn't too heavy to carry and is easily transported. They do need things like electric extension cables too for the medics - so if you have one in perfect working order, you could add that to your bag too.

Sorry for the long post - but hope you and your family or friends can help. Many many thanks in advance.
