**Update**
Stoke Road flood signs switched off. Some surface water remains so proceed with care.

Information from our Volunteer Flood Co-Ordinator Friday 19th December 2025 2.27am

River levels have started to fall but the River Parrett at Parrett works and Gawbridge Mill are still high.

STOKE ROAD is open. Be aware of spilt gravel at the Martock end of Stoke Road, approximately 200 yards from the recreation ground towards the A303.

The road from Parrett Works to South Petherton is closed but may be passable by mid morning.

Lots of standing water, to light flooding along Stoke Road. The little culvert is also full, so may cause problems later. Please take care

Anyone heading along Parrett Works road, be aware the water is across the road at Yandle's and there are large puddles as you go towards South Petherton. The river is rising quite fast, but not overtopping at present.

Stapleton Cross traffic lights are out, possibly due to power cut earlier, Please take care when going this direction.

Lots of standing water on the roads, if you have to go out, please take care while your driving.

Stoke Road blocked by overturned car, suspect it will be sometime before it’s clear. Not mine thankfully, and everyone involved is fine.

Road closure going into Yeovil via A3088, Montacute and Stoke-Sub-Hamdon is a bit chaotic if you were planning to head that way.

Urgent Road Closure: ttro476720SS - Pitway Hill, Martock

Please be aware that we have received notification of an urgent road closure at Pitway Hill, Martock, which will commence on 8th November 2021 and is expected to last until 12th November 2021 (the closure is between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59).

These works are for SCC (Highway Maintenance) to carry out repairs to a culvert.

Date Change - Temporary Road Closure: Cartgate Link Road, Brympton



Please be aware that the Parish Council has received notification of a date change to a temporary road closure at Cartgate Link Road, Brympton for approximately 150 metres.

The new date for the works to commence is 4th November 2021 and is expected to last until 5th November 2021 between the hours of 18:30 - 06:30

These works are for Somerset Highways to carry out patching works., their works reference is LG210YAYE7034-03.
