Reading all your comments over the last few days has been a lot.

And genuinely, thank you.
To the people who showed up properly, supported us, understood what we were trying to build, you made The Gatehouse what it was.

It has been nearly three years.
Three years of learning, pushing, getting things wrong, getting things right, and figuring it out in real time.

We have had some incredible moments here.
And we have also had moments that taught us exactly how things work.

Because the reality is building something like this is not just about food or a pub.
It is about people, energy, and whether what you are creating is actually respected.

You notice very quickly when it is, and when it is not.

We have seen both.
And once you see it properly, you do not unsee it.

The Gatehouse gave us our start.
It gave us resilience, perspective, and a very clear understanding of where we are valued and where we are not.

And that clarity is what has taken us to the next step.

We hope the brewery finds the right people to take this place forward.
What you build only works when it is met halfway.

Michelle is one of the reasons we kept going this long and we are making sure she is properly supported through this transition, even if that is not always visible from the outside.

To the people who got it, you mattered.

Everything else just confirmed we were ready to move on.

Last week.

This is your last chance to have Ale & Aloo at the Gatehouse.

From Thursday, we’ll be serving food until we sell out and we will sell out.
Things might run out, it might get a bit messy, but that’s the reality of where we are.

After this week, all food will be served from Parosna only.

For the past 4 months we’ve been working 15 to 18 hour days trying to keep this going.
We’re exhausted. Properly.

So if you’ve been meaning to come, or want one last time, this is it.

After this, we don’t fully know.
We might open for drinks.
We might close until a new tenant is found.

We’re still here, just figuring it out.

What we do know is this
Running a small business right now is unbelievably hard. The costs behind the scenes are higher than most people realise.

We even heard this weekend that people are hoping new tenants will come in and lower prices.
The truth is, that’s not how it works anymore. Not for anyone.

But small businesses still need support. Now more than ever.

So if you can, come by.
Be part of the last week.

A few people have messaged us after seeing the “Business To Let” board outside The Gatehouse, so just to clarify — we’re still here.

Thwaites have listed the building, but Ale & Aloo at The Gatehouse is continuing to trade as normal until new tenants are found.

Running a pub like this has become incredibly expensive over the last few years, and decisions like this are often made above our heads — but for now it’s still business as usual.

The last almost three years here have been quite a journey. The good, the stressful, the brilliant, the chaotic — but this place is also what allowed us to grow enough to open Parosna, and for that we’re genuinely grateful.

Thank you for all the love, support, feedback and even the occasional drama along the way.

And while we’re still here, we’d really appreciate everyone continuing to come down and support the place like you always have.

If you’ve been meaning to visit The Gatehouse, now’s a good time.

Mother’s Day is around the corner and we’ll be serving our Sunday roast platters at The Gatehouse.

Proper roasts, big sharing boards, crispy potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and all the good bits in the middle of the table – the way Sundays should be.

Bring your mum, grandma, the whole family… or the person who basically raised you.

We’ll have the fire going, pints pouring and plenty of gravy.

If you’re planning to come, it’s probably a good idea to book a table as Sundays fill up quickly.
