🎄🐶 A little heads-up for my Bark Lounge customers! 💙

I’ve had a look at the diary and there are now only 7 grooming appointments left between now and Christmas.

That’s just 7 appointments across the next 14 weeks — and once they’re gone, they’re gone!

If you’re a regular customer, this is a good time to check that you’ve got your next 2 or even 3 appointments booked in.

Booking ahead means you can keep your dog’s grooming routine on track and, more importantly, you won’t have to worry about trying to find a last-minute appointment when you need one.

🎄 Christmas appointments will obviously be the first to go, so please don’t leave it until December to think about it!

If you’re not sure what you’ve currently got booked, just drop me a message and I’ll be happy to check for you. 💙

🐾 Thank you, as always, for keeping The Bark Lounge so busy! 💙

🐶✂️ A few of last week’s lovely customers! 💙

Last week was another busy one at The Bark Lounge, with lots of different breeds, coats and personalities coming through the door.

Here are just a few of the finished grooms from the week. 🐾

Every dog gets their own individual approach, whether that means taking a little extra time, allowing breaks when needed or simply working around what makes them comfortable.

I love seeing the transformation at the end of a groom — but even more importantly, seeing a happy dog heading home. 💙

Which one is your favourite? 👀🐶

🐶💙 **Want your puppy to grow up LOVING trips to the groomer?**

Introducing your puppy to grooming early can make such a difference to how they feel about future visits.

That’s why I offer **Puppy Introduction Sessions** at The Bark Lounge — two sessions designed to gradually introduce your puppy to the grooming environment, the equipment and, most importantly, the experience of being handled and groomed.

🐾 **Session 1 – around 20 minutes**
A gentle introduction to the salon, groomer, table, bath, brushes, combs, scissors and, if they’re comfortable, the dryer.

🛁 **Session 2 – around 1–1½ hours**
Once they’re ready, we gradually introduce brushing, bathing, drying and nail clipping.

There’s **no rushing and no pressure**. If your puppy becomes overwhelmed, we take a break and give them time to settle. Every puppy is different, so sessions are adapted to suit them.

The aim isn't to get a perfect groom straight away. It’s about helping your puppy build a **positive association with grooming** from the very beginning. 💙

And when your puppy eventually starts dragging *you* through the door because they’re so excited to come in… 😂🐶

**That’s when we know we’ve done it right!**

🐾 **Two Puppy Introduction Sessions – £54**

🦷 Something NEW has arrived at The Bark Lounge! 🐶💙

I’m really excited to introduce Emmi-pet Neo — a new addition to the services I can offer your four-legged friends.

Dental care is an important part of your dog’s overall wellbeing, but it’s something that can easily get overlooked amongst all the brushing, bathing, grooming and nail clipping.

The Emmi-pet Neo uses ultrasonic technology to help support your dog’s oral hygiene as part of their regular care routine.

I’m now offering teeth-cleaning sessions at The Bark Lounge, giving both existing clients and new customers another way to look after their dog’s smile. 🐶🦷

I’ll be sharing more over the next few weeks about how it works, what a session involves and who it could benefit, so keep an eye out! 👀💙

👴🐶 OAP DAY AT THE BARK LOUNGE! 🐾

We had a bit of a senior citizens’ day last week, with a 14-year-old, 13-year-old and two 12-year-olds visiting for their grooms.

That’s 51 actual dog years between them… which, according to absolutely no scientifically recognised calculation whatsoever, makes them approximately 432 human years old! 😂💙

But jokes aside, grooming our older dogs requires a little extra care and patience.

Grooms are adapted to suit each individual dog, with plenty of opportunities to sit down, rest and take a break when they need one.

We also avoid putting older dogs into positions that may be uncomfortable for them. They don’t need to stand for longer than necessary, and there’s certainly no rush to get the groom finished.

Sometimes the best groom is simply the one that gets done at their pace. 🐾

Four very good reasons why age is just a number… although these four might appreciate an afternoon nap afterwards! 😂💙

✂️ Ever wondered what hand stripping actually is? 🐾

I’ve had a few hand-stripping appointments recently, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to explain a little more about this grooming technique.

Unlike clipping, hand stripping removes the mature outer coat by hand or using a stripping tool. For the right type of coat, this can help maintain its natural texture and appearance. 🐶

It’s commonly used for wire-haired and rough-coated breeds, but hand stripping isn’t automatically right for every dog. The breed, coat condition and individual dog all need to be considered.

It’s one of those grooming techniques that you might not know much about until your dog needs it!

💤 Welcome to the Snooze Club! 🐾💙

Two very relaxed customers this morning, clearly deciding that waiting for their humans is exhausting work! 😂

One of my favourite things about one-to-one grooming is seeing dogs become so comfortable in the salon that they can simply switch off and have a little nap.

Groomed, pampered… and apparently ready for bed! 😴💙

🐾 Meet Poppy 💙

🐾 Today is International Blind Dog Day 💙

Today is a chance to celebrate the incredible dogs who navigate the world a little differently.

Dogs who are blind or visually impaired can still enjoy a happy, fulfilling life — they simply rely more heavily on their other senses, routines and the people around them.

For grooming, patience and consistency can be particularly important. Taking time to let a dog understand where they are, using your voice to reassure them and avoiding unnecessary surprises can all help them feel more comfortable.

Every dog is an individual, and sometimes the best thing we can give them is simply time and understanding. 🐶💙

Have you ever known or cared for a blind or visually impaired dog?

🐾 A little bit about the person behind The Bark Lounge… 💙

When I’m not grooming your four-legged friends, life is pretty busy!

🥁 I’m a musician, playing with multiple bands.

📚 I’m also a teacher, working with students who haven’t always found education easy or enjoyable.

👨‍👩‍👦 And most importantly, I’m a husband and dad to a very energetic 3-year-old!

Somehow, amongst all of that, I also get to spend my days doing something I absolutely love — working one-to-one with dogs. 🐶💙

It’s a slightly unusual combination of jobs and hobbies, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So now you know a little more about the person behind The Bark Lounge!

🐾 How often should your dog be groomed? 💙

There's no one-size-fits-all answer!

A dog's ideal grooming routine depends on their breed, coat type, lifestyle and individual needs.

The most important thing is finding a routine that works for your individual dog. 🐾

Not sure how often your dog should be coming in? Drop us a message and we're happy to advise. 💙
