We’re absolutely thrilled to have Prince William’s support for our campaign to save the Somerset Arms! 🙌

His Royal Highness has donated £1000 and shared his support for the role pubs play as “lifelines” for rural communities. We are incredibly grateful for his recognition and for the huge boost it gives our campaign - our pledges have already risen since the news landed!

Just a short walk from the Kennet & Avon Canal in Semington, the Somerset Arms was once a popular destination for locals and visitors. Now, we have the opportunity to bring it back and make it the perfect spot for walkers, cyclists, boaters and families to enjoy once again. ☀️

Whether you’re finishing a walk along the canal, taking a break on a weekend bike ride, or mooring up while travelling through, the Somerset we’re dreaming of would offer a warm welcome to everyone, good food, great company and a place to relax.

The Somerset Arms closed in 2023 - but we’re working to bring it back to life as something even better: a welcoming, community-owned pub, shared with everyone🧡

We know that for many people, the pub holds a lot of memories - some great, some not so great. That’s exactly why we’re doing this. Our aim is to create a space the whole community can be proud of: inclusive, well-run, and truly at the heart of village life.

We’re the Semington Community Benefit Society, a group of local residents leading this effort - and we’d love you to be part of it.

Right now, we’re in the pledge stage, which is a really important step in showing that there’s enough support to make this happen. There are a few ways you can help:
