Hello everyone,
Thank you to our wonderful staff and loyal customers for bearing with us as long as you have..
Unfortunately this is not the news we wanted to give you π
Loaded Burgers and Fries simply cannot operate from our new premises in Treorchy. We have had several professionals around to check the property and there is considerably more work to do than anyone anticipated. The gas is not up to legal code and the electrics are worse. In order to make the restaurant safe and legally compliant it will take a lot of money and the owner and ourselves simply do not have it. We would like to state for the record that this was as much of a shock to the landlady as it was to ourselves. She did not know and her life was in danger whilst operating the restaurant. It is thankful that these problems were discovered before anyone was hurt. We have tried to work with each other and put a plan together but there simply isn't the funding on either side to do so. The landlady has had a difficult time recently and this is a genuine shame for her. We wish her luck with the premises and hope she finds someone who can cover the costs for her.
Secondly we would like to point out that we, as a business, are still determined to reopen. We have a restaurant in Newport that we are looking to open next month and another restaurant ready to open towards the summer. We will be focusing our efforts on these two venues moving forwards.
As a business we have always done things honestly and above board. We have made sure our premises are up to code and have left premises which are not. Our staff are all paid a minimum of the national minimum wage and receive all the necessary pensions, sick pay, holiday pay etc.. The business was set up originally to keep local people in work and we are still doing so. We have supported many local and national charities and community groups financially since opening. Our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in this area is a driving force for us. Locally sourcing and handmaking our food instead of relying on frozen food and big name suppliers has been of paramount importance. We like to think that we have delivered high quality, delicious food and we thank the community for their support. Winning Welsh High Street Start Up of the Year 2021 has been a highlight in our restaurant career. We simply could not do anything without our local staff and customers and we thank you all π₯°
Unfortunately we will not be reopening in this area. We appreciate that we are not everyone's kind of business, we are frequently told "Go woke and go broke" but we wanted to make sure that ALL diverse people had a safe place to eat, drink and work in The Rhondda. We like to think we have achieved this and we look forward to the next chapter of our journey. Until we see you all again this is (temporarily) goodbye from all of us at Loaded Burgers and Fries Ltd. It has been a blast and we can't wait to see you again in a few months time π
