Great to see that WalesOnline is continuing to explore the flooding issues in Rhymney, this time affecting a much larger business a bit further down the road. (This article is behind a pay wall, but I think you get one free view.) As we've said before, this is part of a much wider problem of an ageing and poorly-maintained land drainage infrastructure that is affecting individual homes and business (and jobs!) right across the Valleys. As severe weather events become more frequent and water levels rise, we need action on a national level to make our watercourses more future proof.
The failing culvert carries the "entirety" of the River Rhymney 😬
