Harefields Cidery is closing down. Saturday 27th of April will be our last open day to the public. There will be a free viewing of Dune 2 from 7pm please let me know if you are coming.
With a very heavy heart I have to inform you that unfortunately our cidery lease has been withdrawn as Steve and Tina would like the freedom and availability to market the property at the earliest possible opportunity.
I'd like to again apologise to those summer private event bookings I've had to cancel and all those enquiries this spring I've had to turn away.
I have investigated other venues but would need a large event lawn. I would also only move to a new site where we could also offer over night glamping. The psychological spend to over night time away compared to going out for a drink is vast.
My prediction is that 40 to 60% of pub, cafes, restaurants, bars will all be gone within 5 to 10 years. And 95% of cinemas, social clubs, nights clubs, bingo halls and music venues will all be gone within 5 years.
As we move within a near 30 year old Internet based economy we move towards one of nearly only homes and warehouses with everything delivered.
"Brave New World" for those familiar with Shakespeare.
I'd like to thank everyone who has supported Harefields over the five years I have been at Lakeside, Duncote during which time the business has seen off covid, Brexit and a cost of living crisis.
"I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream is gone from me". Morpheus. A little cinema quote for you.
Open Friday from 5pm and Saturday from 2pm, closed Sunday.
I'd normally always sign off with 'Join The Craft...' but this time it's goodbye from the cidery.
Dave Chambers.
