Well, it's been a crazy couple of months post lockdown and we have barely been able to keep up. We wanted to thank all our new (we rock the staycationers) and old (thanks for coming back) customers for bearing with us while we have transitioned back to normal service. We have really enjoyed being back open and meeting real people in real life. Our tentative steps with live events in the Garden and Library bar have exceeded our expectations and we are looking at filling up the diary a bit more.

Below is a little taste of what's on and in now - we have over 100 bottles and cans of craft beers and ciders in the fridges as well as some great beers on cask and keg. We should have something to suit all tastes and pocket. Gary the brewer has been a busy bee on our new kit and we have Equinox on keg (5.4%) and Citra on cask (3.5%) - both single-hop pales. The fridges are looking mighty fine at the moment with new beers coming in every week - it's quite hard ensuring we get to taste even 50% of them but we are doing our best. The "Fridge of Dreams" (say to the tune of Pigs in Space AKA the Muppets) offers some great presents or just special treat beers.

Coming up we are really excited that the Ballroom upstairs will be one of the venues for the one-day Sea Change festival on Aug 28th - make sure you get your ticket to avoid disappointment - this town-wide event is promising to be amazing.

Don't forget you can bring your own food into the bar to have with a delicious beer (other beverages are available) and we are dog and family-friendly.

Please watch this space for any COVID updates - it might feel like we are out of the woods but it's not over yet.

We know the weather outlook doesn't look great but we have a couple of DJs playing in the garden tonight and tomorrow night. We will move a bit of furniture around if we need to make more under cover space. DJs are on from 7pm'ish.Lots of great beers on tap as well as local ciders, quality wines and full beer fridges. Please note if we are busy we may have to stop entry at some point as we are not yet back at our usual capacity limits. 😉

We have two vacancies for bar staff to work two or three shifts per week – mostly around the weekends and/or evenings. Experience in bar or waiting tables service preferable , but not essential for the right people. Ability to work in a busy environment and a sense of humour essential. Beer training will be provided if needed.

Regular work over the summer guaranteed and likely shifts available moving into the Autumn. Competitive hourly rates, staff discounts, and just a generally nice environment to work in.

Up-dated Bookings and Seating Policy Following Govt COVID
update on June 14th

Following the Govt announcement on Monday 14th regarding the delay to the easing of lockdown we would like to confirm our bookings and seating policy. We are really gutted that we are still unable to return to normal, but needs must, and we appreciate everyone’s efforts in helping us to keep everyone safe – we are all in a difficult situation that no one wants to be in.

Outside bookings: Please note we will not normally be taking bookings/seating for groups of more than eight people outside. If you want to book for a larger party please give us plenty of notice as we still need to stay within our capacity limits and so this has an impact on other table reservations. We will do our very best to accommodate you.

Inside bookings: we only have one table inside that can accommodate more than six people without compromising the safety of others. Please remember inside bookings can only be for groups comprising of two households.

Masks: While not seated customers are required to wear a mask at all times unless exempt. Please let us know in advance if you are exempt and planning a visit during a busy period so that we can seat you in the safest possible area for you, and our other customers and staff. Customers are also required to stay at their tables once seated unless going to the bathroom. These are not our rules but we have to enforce them and they are non-negotiable. Anyone unable to stick to these rules – as annoying as they are – will be asked to leave and not return until after we have gone back to normal service. We totally understand how hard it is to stick to the rules on a fun night out but our priority is to keep our staff and customers safe and get us all to a point where we can get “Back to Normal”😉
