Gomango Limited

We are a small design company based in Devon established by Ian Cox way back in the 90's but trading as Gomango since around 2004. People often asked why we called oursleves 'Gomango' - it's funny how many people assume the name is made up of Go Man Go - that didn't really occur to me and it sounds a bit beatnick/early sixties... the real reason for the name is... ...I read every word listed in a two volume dictionary and found nothing we could use (bearing in mind that any name also had to be free as a Limited Company name and an Internet domain name). Then we started playing with joining up names - a bit randomly I suggested using the word 'Go' in front of other words... Go-Mango emerged pretty quickly after that. We found a juice bar in Australia called Gomango but nothing else that conflicted so that's the name we settled on. To confound the picture we then co-branded with a design company called Cutler Whitehead (we were previously called Ethos Business Internet) - they did design for print, we did design for the web... it was a good idea at the time but didn't result in the synergy we were looking for so after a couple of years we split the two businesses. Which means there's a design business out there called Gomango Creative which isn't us! They're very good at what they do but things have evolved a lot since - we now design for everything - print, web, branding, display/exhibitions - you name it, we design it! Every business needs a USP or, at the very least, a special skill that differentiates them from the pack - we have two strong selling points... we do everything in-house and we are able to create extremely sophisticated web 'solutions' utilising our expertise in the field of Cold Fusion programming (which, essentially, means we make databased content sing many different kinds of song on the web - from clever blogs to online shops and news feeds to event diaries). We're also very keen to work with businesses and organisations who need a hand up in relation to their identity, print design and web presence - so where it's appropriate we sometimes offer our services at very low cost - espcially to charities and community groups (not that we charge that much to our corporate clients either!). The massive corporation that is Gomango Limited comprises two regularly (and occasionally irregularly) employed individuals - Ian and Paul, with occasional guest appearances by Dan and rarer guest appearances by others... but essentially it's all down to Ian and Paul. We both work from our own homes but it usually feels like we're living inside our web server... welcome to the digital age!
