✨Day 28 of 30 — The Landlady (Please Don’t Delete This, Mandy😆) ✨
Today’s post is for the one person who told me not to make a fuss.
Which was the clearest sign she deserved one more than anyone.
Over the years — the people, the food, the laughter, the chaos there is always a constant that runs through it all: Mandy.
Not just the chef whose dishes people travelled for.
Not just the boss keeping bookings, staff, rotas, paperwork, and suppliers in rhythm.
But the woman who held it all — every corner, every challenge, every triumph — together with a heart that can’t be taught or faked.
For 14 years, she didn’t just work here.
She carried it.
She kept it standing on the days when the pressure was too much, when there were no hours left to give, when the world asked too much and she still gave more. She could step into any role, fix any problem, steady any wobble — all without fanfare.
And all the while, she raised two beautiful daughters with the same love and resilience she brought into these walls.
And she faced cancer head-on — and beat it — with courage that softened us, strengthened us, and reminded us what bravery really looks like.
Mandy never asks for praise. She never steps into the spotlight. She will absolutely tell me off for posting this.
But this place was built on her shoulders, her standards, her sacrifices, and her heart.
People loved this pub because they felt her in every part — in the welcome, the food, the atmosphere, the warmth.
Real hospitality comes from someone who genuinely cares — deeply and endlessly — about the people who walk through the door.
Today we celebrate Mandy.
The landlady.
The chef.
The leader.
The survivor.
The woman who does everything for everyone and asks for nothing in return.
She turned a building into a home.
She made strangers into regulars and regulars into family.
She gave this place its soul.
Here’s to Mandy — with all the love she never asks for, but absolutely deserves. ❤️
