The Basset Hound in Thingwall is a welcoming country pub set in a beautiful part of the countryside, blending classic charm with a relaxed, modern feel. Every visit is designed to be comfortable and easy, with a friendly team who are passionate about good food and drink. The menu features familiar pub favourites, steaks, burgers and desserts, making it a great choice for anything from a casual date night to a family meal or a special occasion. Outside, the beer garden is ideal for unwinding on warmer days, while inside there’s free WiFi and EV charging and disabled facilities for added comfort. Dogs are welcome, families are well catered for, and the function room offers a flexible space for gatherings and celebrations.

🍽️ NEW MENU HAS LANDED AT THE BASSET HOUND! 🍴🐾
The wait is over, Thingwall! Our brand-new menu is here, packed with delicious dishes, comforting classics and some exciting new additions that you’re going to LOVE! 😍
Whether you’re joining us for a quick bite, a family meal or a proper pub feast, we’ve got something for everyone. Here’s just a little taste of what’s waiting for you… 👀👇
✨ A FEW NEW FAVOURITES TO TRY:
🍗 Hunter’s Chicken – crispy chicken breast topped with smoked streaky bacon, melted Cheddar and our BBQ sauce, served with chips and garden peas. Proper comfort food!
🐟 Grilled Salmon & King Prawns – grilled salmon and king prawns with garlic and herb butter, served with a fresh garden salad and buttery baby potatoes. Perfect if you fancy something a little lighter!
🥧 Steak & Ale Pie – a rich, hearty steak and ale pie served with gravy and your choice of chips or buttery mash, alongside garden peas. A proper British pub classic!
🍝 Lasagne – layers of pasta, rich meat sauce and creamy béchamel, finished with cheese and served with garlic ciabatta and a fresh salad. The ultimate comfort dish!
🍗 Crispy Chicken – crispy breaded chicken with Katsu curry sauce, served with rice and chips, topped with red chilli and spring onion for that extra kick! (Other choices grilled chicken, and a veggie/vegan option of crispy cauliflower ☘️🌱
🥩 Mixed Grill – for those with a BIG appetite! Rump steak, gammon steak, chicken breast, Cumberland sausage, fried egg, onion rings, chips, tomato and garden peas. Now that’s a feast! 🤤

🧀 Nachos with BBQ Pulled Pork – crispy tortilla chips loaded with BBQ pulled pork, melted cheese, nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, jalapeños and pickled red onion. The perfect sharing dish… if you’re willing to share! 🤤🔥(also available in a vegan option 😮💚)

🍢 NEW Tandoori Chicken Skewers – juicy tandoori chicken skewers packed with flavour, served with your choice of dip. Perfect for sharing or enjoying as a tasty starter! 😍🔥

Honestly, choosing our Dog of the Week is ALWAYS such a difficult decision because we love ALL our pooches so much! 🥹🐶 Every week we’re spoilt with gorgeous faces, wagging tails and plenty of cuddles! ❤️
This week, we’ve got the lovely Zia stealing the spotlight! 😍 She absolutely loves her signature spot in the pub, where she can sit back, relax and give us those iconic side eyes 👀😂 Honestly, Zia, we know you’re judging us!
🐶❤️ And the best bit? Every dog chosen as our Dog of the Week WINS a FREE DOGGY ROAST, which can be collected on a Sunday! 🥩🐾 So keep bringing your four-legged besties along because you never know who might be next! 👀
