The movement argues that pubs, restaurants, cafés, hotels and other hospitality venues are facing increasing pressure from rising operating costs, energy bills and labour expenses, while also paying one of the highest hospitality VAT rates in Europe. Supporters believe that a lower VAT rate would help small businesses improve cash flow, invest in growth, protect jobs and keep prices more affordable for customers. The campaign claims that reducing VAT would strengthen local high streets, support independent businesses and help many small hospitality operators remain competitive and financially sustainable during a challenging economic period
