Vince and Leon believe the community of the picturesque village of Thaxted deserve more from their local pub and it’s their job to give you just that. They're committed to seeking out the very best quality local (where possible) ingredients at prices that are honest and fair. They aim to be

a real part of the local community and would be proud to help fund raise for local charities and can offer a function area free of charge to locals and groups.

Round off our Beer Festival and Morris weekend in style today with live folk music from the wonderful Rebecca Leek , performing from 2:30pm.

Bringing her captivating mix of traditional and contemporary folk, Rebecca’s songs are full of story, soul and atmosphere — the perfect soundtrack to a relaxed Sunday afternoon at The Maypole.

And that’s not all… the Thaxted Cake Maids will be here too, selling their delicious home bakes. Think proper homemade cakes, sweet treats and afternoon delights — ideal with a cuppa, a pint, or simply because you deserve one.

We’re absolutely delighted to share that The Maypole has been awarded a 5-star Cask Marque rating — a fantastic recognition of the quality of our cask ales.

Cask Marque is an independent accreditation that celebrates pubs serving great cask beer. Their assessors check that ales are served to a high standard, looking at temperature, appearance, aroma and taste — all the things that make a proper pint truly enjoyable.

For us, this means more than just an award. It reflects the care that goes into our cellar, the pride our team takes behind the bar, and our commitment to serving beer as it should be served.
