The First Thursday Music Club

The First Thursday Music Club Open Mic Night in Thame. The First Thursday of every month. "The best Open Mic night anywhere" Plus PA, monitoring, lights, professional sound engineer.
(28)

A free, relaxed open mic night in Thame in a great room, set up and run by Johnnie Littler from local band 2am Blue to allow everybody a chance to perform in front of a supportive audience. We provide:

Drum kit (Natal Arcadia Jazz kit - please bring breakables)
Asdown bass amp
Peavey Classic combo (guitar amp)
Roland RD100 stage piano
4 vocal mics (SM58’s)
3 DI’s (acoustic guitars/violins/etc.) S

O WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT? It does not matter whether you are a virtuoso or a total beginner (there are often a few of each), the audience will be kind to you. The room is big enough to hold 100 plus, but small enough to feel comfortably filled on the quieter nights. Soft lighting and candles help to give the room its intimate feel. We aim to be well run, reliable and to focus on great sound which is not too loud. We provide a relaxed, fun atmosphere to see a variety of mainly acoustic musical acts. WHEN AND WHERE? The club runs on the first Thursday of every month from 8:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. at the Thame Snooker Club, 1A St Andrews Ct, Thame OX9 3WT

PLAYING AT THE FIRST THURSDAY MUSIC CLUB

YOU CAN PRE-BOOK A SLOT

Our mission is to give musicians a platform to perform live music in front of a supportive audience. We welcome all from beginners to Virtuoso. (No backing tracks or loop pedals.) Our format is:

Feature act - 45 minutes
Band slot A - 25 minutes
Band Slot B - 20 minutes
4 x Artist slot – 15 minutes

We pre-book our Feature act and Band slots. Please apply through our Facebook site

We also offer the opportunity to pre-book the artist slots so as to give certainty to artists they will be performing. We do still take walk-ups on the night if any of the slots have not been pre-booked but we recommend pre-booking through the Facebook site (message us) to avoid disappointment. If you come as a listener, remember that anyone can pitch up and play, so don't expect everyone to be brilliant. We ask that you respect the people playing and allow them to be heard. If you want to chat then you can sit or stand at the back of the room by the dedicated bar. If you’re into listening and maybe fretboard watching to discover that magical chord then sit right down front.
