🏆 Congratulations to Endless Pastabilities, our May quiz night champions! 🏆

In an incredibly close finish, they claimed victory from Play Up Pompeii by just a single point 👀

They aced our guest round How Long Ago? and showed off their knowledge in picture rounds on berries and beyond, famous catchphrases, star signs, and game show hosts 🍓⭐️📺

A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us for another brilliant evening of trivia and teamwork 🙌

Over the past few weeks we’ve been completely overwhelmed by the support for The White Lion in the Muddy Stilettos Awards.

To be sitting amongst some of Sussex’s most established pubs honestly means the world to a small independent business like ours.

From Sunday lunches and quiz nights to cosy afternoons by the fire, so many of you have become part of The White Lion story over the last few years. We’re incredibly grateful for every vote, share and kind message.

🏆 Congratulations to You’re a Quizzard, Harry, our April quiz night champions! 🏆

Not only did they take the win, but they also secured best team name, earning themselves those all-important extra points and sailing their way to victory ⚡️

They showed off their knowledge across picture rounds on chocolate cross sections, Gen Z slang, what’s wrong with the logo, and famous dogs 🍫🔍🐾

They also paid close attention in school scoring highly on our guest round back to school 🤓 📖 ✏️

Our quiz nights are proudly sponsored by Nyetimber, meaning they’ll be celebrating in style with a bottle of England’s finest sparkling wine 🍾✨

Happy Easter from all of us at The White Lion.

We’re open today for Sunday lunch from 12–4pm, with the bar open through until last orders at 7:30pm. The bar will close at 8:00pm

If you’re out for a walk or gathering with family, you’re very welcome to join us. We look forward to seeing you.

Booking is highly recommended via our website, however everyone is very welcome to walk in and join us for drinks.

We’re also open tomorrow for a long lunch, 12–3pm.

Easter at The White Lion

The long weekend is nearly here, and we’ll be open throughout. The perfect time to gather, linger, and enjoy a good meal in good company.

Good Friday – normal hours
Easter Sunday – traditional Sunday lunch served 12–4pm
Easter Monday – lunch served 12–3pm

We’ll be closing briefly after the bank holiday before reopening on Thursday.

As always, our Sunday lunch is prepared fresh throughout the day, with limited availability later on - so we highly recommend booking ahead, particularly for Easter Sunday.

Settle in after a spring walk amongst the bluebells, take your time over lunch, and let us look after the rest.

The pub has beautiful Easter touches around every corner to get you in the mood for spring.

Don’t forget our games cupboard has new additions to enjoy. Perfect for enjoying after an Easter family walk.

With the countryside beginning to wake up and bluebells just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to slow things down and enjoy a few simple pleasures.

We’ve added a couple of new favourites to our games cupboard ready for the Easter break…

Dobble - quick, chaotic, family friendly and guaranteed to get everyone involved.

Our little brass hare seems to have hopped off over the weekend…

He was one of the very first things we bought for The White Lion, so he holds a little more sentimental value than most.

If he’s found his way into a new home by mistake, we’d really love to have him back - no questions asked. like many of the small details around the pub, he was chosen to help make the space feel special.

Quiz newcomers and already making their mark—you won’t find these guys on the wrong side of the law after acing our guest round on bizarre laws from around the world ⚖️

They also smashed picture rounds on spring flowers, world flags shaped as countries, catchphrase clues, and fictional food and drink 🌸🌎🍔

Our next Quiz & Dinner Night will be on Thursday 16th April, with a British-themed quiz night 🇬🇧
