🥩⚽ SUNDAY AT THE DALE ⚽🥩

This Sunday promises to be a big one.

6pm we'll be drawing the World Cup Sweepstake.

7pm we'll be drawing the Meat Raffle.

World Cup

48 teams. £5 a team. Maximum 2 teams per person.

But here's the twist...

Once you've drawn your team, it'll be sealed inside an envelope with your name on it.

You won't know who you've got. Nobody will.

Not until the World Cup Final on 19th July when the envelopes are opened and we discover who's won.

Think of it like Schrödinger's Cat.

Until the envelope is opened, you're simultaneously holding Brazil, England, France and a nation you've never heard of that sounds like a discount kitchen appliance.

🏆 Winner - £100
🥈 Runner Up - £40

All while raising £100 for Hope House Children's Hospice.

Then at...

🥩 MEAT RAFFLE
⏰ 7pm

The weekly event where perfectly sensible people win perfectly sensible meat prizes and then immediately risk them all on the mystery box.

Will somebody walk away with a glorious joint of beef?

Will somebody gamble it all away?

Will Glyn win again?

Scientists remain unable to explain it.

📍 The Coalbrookdale Inn
⚽ Sweepstake Draw - 6pm
🥩 Meat Raffle - 7pm

One evening.

Two draws.

An entire pub full of people who are technically winning and losing the World Cup at the same time.

Real flavour. Real people. Right here at the Dale.

⚽🏆 WORLD CUP SWEEPSTAKE DRAW 🏆⚽

Either way…

JOIN THE DRAW!

MAX 2 TEAMS EACH

📅 THIS SUNDAY
⏰ Draw starts at 6pm
📍 The Coalbrookdale Inn

🌍 48 Teams Available

More importantly…

Almost certainly.

Get yourselves down, grab a pint, support a fantastic cause, and see where fate sends you.

🍻🌞JUNE AT THE DALE 🍻🌞
Well... somehow we're already six months into the year.
Amazing how quickly time flies when you're baking award-worthy pies, making phenomenal curries, raising money for charity through darts marathons and conker competitions, enjoying fantastic live music from the likes of Baxter, Minor Glance and Two Rivers Deep... or watching a grown man dressed like Bette Midler discover that riding a pretend bull in the car park was, in hindsight, a terrible idea.

Yet here we are. June has arrived.

⚽ WORLD CUP FEVER IS COMING ⚽
The World Cup is now just days away and we'll be showing every England game right here at The Dale.

Now some people may ask...
"Why watch football in a tiny pub?"

Simple. Because what we lack in size we more than make up for in atmosphere.

If the Women's World Cup taught us anything, it's that forty people celebrating in The Dale sounds remarkably similar to seventy thousand people celebrating at Wembley.

We'll also be showing plenty of the other matches too.

Just don't expect us to open at 2am so Dave can watch Paraguay play the USA while claiming he's got money on it.

🏆 KEY DATES
📅 Opening Ceremony – 11th June
England vs Croatia – Wednesday 17th June – 9pm
England vs Ghana – Tuesday 23rd June – 9pm
England vs Uruguay – Saturday 27th June – 10pm

Will England bring football home?
Will they break our hearts?
Will somebody explain exactly what's wrong with the manager after fourteen pints and half a packet of pork scratchings?

History suggests yes.

🌳 COMMUNITY OPEN GARDENS WEEKEND 🌳
Saturday & Sunday – 1pm to 4pm
Organised by the Coke Hearth Improvement Group and based from the Coalbrookdale Community Centre.

Collect your map, enjoy a samosa lunch, tea, coffee and cake, browse local stalls and explore some beautiful gardens around the village.
A brilliant free community event helping make our corner of the Gorge even better.

🎉 CARIBBEAN NIGHT 🎉
Saturday 20th June – From 7pm
(Working titles currently include Coalibbeandale, Coalbrookdale Indies and several others currently being reviewed by a panel of sober adults.)

DJ Ryan from Spectrum Entertainment returns with Caribbean and Dancehall vibes.

🌴 FREE Caribbean buffet🍗 Jerk Chicken 🍖 Curry Goat🍚 Rice & Peas 🌽 Corn Fritters 🥭 Mango Salsa 🍍 Pineapple Slaw

And behind the bar we'll have a few tropical specials to help you pretend you're in Barbados rather than looking out of a window at Telford.

🧠 QUIZ NIGHTS

Wednesday 10th June – 8pm / 24th June – 8pm
First ones hosted by Ryan. Which means the questions could be brilliant. Or completely unhinged. Nobody knows. Not even Ryan.

🎻 FOLK CLUB

Thursday 26th June – 8pm. Bring an instrument. Bring a song. Or just come and enjoy an evening where complete strangers somehow become best friends before last orders.

🏅 THE COALBROOKDALE GAMES

Saturday 28th June. A day of fun, silliness, questionable athleticism and live music. Come and spectate. Or simply prop up the bar and provide unsolicited tactical advice from a safe distance. James Bond-themed fancy dress is entirely optional.
Though let's be honest, some of you already look like Bond villains.

Whether you're backing the favourites, supporting the underdogs or just there for the beer, there'll be plenty of entertainment throughout the day.

🥩 MEAT RAFFLE
Every Sunday – 7pm. Will Glyn win again?
Will somebody swap a perfectly good joint of beef for the mystery box? Will the mystery box contain something magnificent or something utterly ridiculous?

There is only one way to find out.

So whether you're here for football, folk music, quizzes, Caribbean food, community events, meat raffles or simply a decent pint with good company, we've got you covered.
Here's to a fantastic June.

See you at the bar. 🍻

🍻 WELL… THAT’S MAY WRAPPED UP THEN 🍻

And somehow another month has disappeared into the beautiful chaos that is life at The Dale.

Firstly… Saturday night.
What an absolutely ridiculous evening that turned out to be.

Massive thanks to the phenomenal who had the place bouncing all night long, got the crowd singing, dancing and drinking like the Wild West had arrived in Ironbridge.

Special thanks to Graham for the allegedly excellent chilli. I say “allegedly” because it vanished quicker than dignity on a mechanical bull. I genuinely didn’t even see a bowl.

Huge thanks as well to everyone who came down to support the night, battled through the card machine gremlins caused by what can only be described as Victorian pub IT infrastructure, and fully embraced the chaos.

In hindsight… handing out water pistols may not have been our strongest operational decision.
At one point it looked less like a country & western night and more like a low-budget remake of The Good, The Bad & The Slightly Damp.

And of course… thoughts remain with Porky, now officially renamed “Pulled Pork,” following what medical experts are calling “an overcommitment to the rodeo lifestyle.” Massive thanks to the bull provider for bringing the blue lights along for his now legendary Blue Plums Incident™.

The rest of the week has been equally glorious.

🧠 Quiz Night saw victory for The Double D’s, proving once again that confidence and shouting loudly remains a viable tactical approach. God help us all, Ryan now hosts the next quiz on Wednesday 10th June at 8pm. There’s still time to notify the authorities.

🎻 Folk Night on Thursday brought cracking tunes, warm weather and the traditional folk club experience of somebody producing an instrument from a bag and immediately becoming everyone’s best friend.

🥩 Sunday’s Meat Raffle once again saw Glyn somehow win a lovely topside joint… although reports suggest he may or may not actually remember winning it. Either way, the meat made it home and honestly that’s all that matters.

But genuinely — thank you all.

Everyone who comes through the doors, supports the events, drinks the beer, buys raffle tickets, laughs at the nonsense and helps keep this little pub buzzing — you’re what makes the place special.

May was absolute carnage.
Exactly how we like it.

Now onto June… and trust me, we’re nowhere near done yet. 🍻

🤠🐷 SUNDAY MEAT RAFFLE – 7PM 🐷🤠

Well… after last night’s Country & Western chaos, it turns out the only thing launched harder than some of you off the mechanical bull… was Porky himself.

Sadly, during what can only be described as a full-contact rodeo performance, Porky suffered a cowboy-related injury while dressed somewhere between a saloon gal and Hocus Pocus’s Bette Midler after a series of increasingly questionable life decisions.

As a mark of respect, solidarity, and absolutely not because the joke writes itself…

🚫 Tonight’s pulled pork AND meatballs have officially been exchanged. 🚫

But fear not — the MEAT RAFFLE rides on from 7pm with glorious meaty prizes from Anthony's of Wellington Farm Shop & Coffee Telford, plus the infamous gamble box where sensible decisions go to die.

Will you leave with steak?
Will you win sausages?
Will you ignore all logic and swap your winnings for the mystery box like a man possessed?

Only one way to find out.

Please keep Porky in your thoughts at this difficult time.
Particularly when approaching farm animals or fairground equipment.

Real flavour. Real people. Right here at the Dale.

🔥 THIS WEEK AT THE DALE 🔥
After a Bank Holiday weekend hotter than Porky’s laptop search history, you’d think May was wrapping up quietly…

Wrong again.

The Dale has absolutely no intention of behaving itself.

🧠 WEDNESDAY – QUIZ NIGHT – 8PM
In the immortal words of the late great Olivia Newton-John…

LET’S GET QUIZZICAL.

£1 in. Brains optional. Confidence levels dangerously high. At least one team will argue with the answer sheet like they’re at Crown Court.

No Gary Bytheway this week…
but don’t let that stop you.

The questions will still be questionable,
the team names increasingly unacceptable,
and somebody will still clap after getting one right in the music round like they’ve just cured polio.

📍 No phones.
📍 No cheating.
📍 No asking Doris from table 3 because “she used to teach geography.”

🎻 THURSDAY – FOLK CLUB – 8PM

First rule of Folk Club: Tell absolutely everybody about Folk Club.

Bring instruments. Bring songs.
Bring that one bloke who only knows half of Scarborough Fair and still somehow gets involved every month.

🤠 SATURDAY–YELLOWSTONE AT THE DALE 🤠

Ye-haw, you beautiful Ironbridge outlaws.

Dust off the boots. Straighten the Stetsons.
And prepare for Coalbrookdale briefly becoming downtown Texas… if Texas had better ale and fewer functioning pavements.

🐂 BUCKING BRONCO – FROM 6PM
FREE TO HAVE A GO.

Nothing strengthens community spirit quite like watching Lol launched sideways into a hay bale after confidently saying:
“Looks easy that.”

🌶️ COWBOY CHILLI – 7PM
FREE. Proper hearty cowboy scran with veggie option available because even the Wild West has evolved.

🎸 LIVE MUSIC – TWO RIVERS DEEP – FROM 8PM FREE ENTRY AGAIN.

Banjo. Bass. Bluegrass. Americana.
And enough foot-stomping energy to shake the Gorge itself.

Then just when you thought your weekend liver might finally get parole…

🥩 SUNDAY – MEAT RAFFLE – 7PM 🥩

The now legendary Sunday evening spectacle where perfectly respectable adults gamble sausages, chickens and assorted meaty treasures for the mysterious contents of The Box.

Could be whisky. Could be gin.
Could be six Pot Noodles and a packet of ibuprofen.

Nobody knows.
Least of all us.

Thanks once again to Anthony’s of Wellington supplying the glorious prizes while Glyn continues his campaign to single-handedly bankrupt probability itself.

Real flavour. Real people. Right here at the Dale.

24/05/2026

☀️🔥 BBQ weather’s hit Ironbridge, so naturally everyone’s panic-buying charcoal, burgers, and enough lager to survive a minor collapse of society.

Which means… the Meat Raffle returns tonight from 7PM at the Dale. 🔥🥩

Huge thanks to Anthony's of Wellington Farm Shop & Coffee Telford for supplying another dangerously meaty lineup perfect for ruining your “just a light BBQ” plans.

You could take your winnings home like a sensible adult…

OR instantly gamble them for The Box™ after two pints and zero good decisions.

Inside could be:
🍜 Pot Noodles
🥃 Mystery booze
🍷 Wine
🫘 Complete rubbish

Honestly, we’ve lost control of this thing.

Tickets on sale all day.
7PM tonight.
Bring cash, bravery, and a mate willing to stop you swapping sausages for chaos.
