Cue Joints Are Often the First Thing to Fail

Most players spend time looking after the shaft and the butt of their cue, but the joint gets ignored, and that's usually where problems start. A poorly maintained joint can cause wobble, affect your shot accuracy, and eventually lead to cracks in the wood around the connection point.

Keeping your joint in good shape is straightforward if you make it a habit. Wipe the male and female joint surfaces down after every session to stop chalk and moisture building up in the threads. Check the joint pin regularly for any signs of corrosion or rough edges, and never over-tighten when assembling your cue as this puts unnecessary stress on the wood. Applying a small amount of quality cue balm around the joint area helps condition the wood and creates a light barrier against humidity, which is one of the main causes of warping near the joint. 🎱

So that's my Europeans journey over for this year. I managed a top 16 spot which is an achievement in itself. I didn't play particularly well in my last match but not taking anything away from my opponent he played very well and a very good player.
Well done to my other Under 16's England team mates who unfortunately fell at the same hurdle.
