Good morning everyone! 👋

I just wanted to make a quick post to clarify a few questions and comments that have been raised over the weekend.

As a Samuel Smith's pub, there are a number of company policies that apply across the estate. These aren't my own rules, but they are ones that I will be upholding and kindly asking everyone to respect.

🐕 Dogs
Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted inside Samuel Smith's pubs.

👨‍👩‍👧 Children
Children are very welcome when accompanying adults for a meal, in accordance with company policy.

🤬 Swearing
We kindly ask customers to refrain from swearing. This helps create a welcoming, respectful environment where everyone—from families to older customers—can relax and enjoy their visit.

📵 Mobile Phones
One of the things that makes Samuel Smith's pubs unique is the encouragement of face-to-face conversation. The mobile phone policy is there to help people disconnect from screens, enjoy each other's company, and allow everyone to enjoy a quiet drink without having to listen to other people's phone conversations.

These policies have been part of Samuel Smith's pubs for many years and are part of what gives them their distinctive character.

Please Welcome Chris (KP) – Your New Manager

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris, although my friends know me simply as KP, and I am absolutely delighted to introduce myself as the new Manager of the Angel & White Horse, Tadcaster.

For me, a pub has always been about far more than serving great drinks. It is where friendships are formed, stories are shared, and strangers leave as familiar faces. My vision is to make the Angel & White Horse a place where everyone feels genuinely welcome, whether you're calling in for a quick pint, enjoying a quiet conversation, or spending an evening with friends and family.

One of my greatest passions is bringing people together. I strongly believe that no one should have to face loneliness or isolation on their own, and I hope our pub becomes a place where people feel comfortable, valued and part of a community. Over the coming months, you'll see a variety of regular events designed to encourage conversation, friendship and laughter, while also supporting local charities, groups and organisations through meaningful partnerships.

Outside of the pub, I'm a huge football fan and a proud Newcastle United supporter. Whether you're a fellow Magpie or support another club, I'm really looking forward to the football debates, friendly banter and conversations across the bar throughout the season.

Most importantly, I want this to be your pub. A place where everyone knows they're welcome, where new friendships are made, and where community comes first. I love to listen as well as talk, so if anyone has any ideas of events or themes that could make the Angel a greater success, grab me and share them 😉

I can't wait to finally open up and meet each and every one of you. (Watch this space for the opening date 📅)

🍺 PART-TIME BAR STAFF WANTED 🍺

Location: LS24 9AW

We're looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic individual to join our team on a part-time basis.

This role will include a mixture of daytime, evening and weekend shifts, so flexibility is essential. Additional hours will also be available during busy periods and to provide holiday cover.

What we're looking for:

- A reliable and punctual team player.
- Someone who genuinely enjoys talking to people and making customers feel welcome.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Previous bar experience is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided for the right person.
