What a day! 🏁

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Car Treasure Hunt today. From the start line to the final clue, it was brilliant to see so many teams out exploring the Staffordshire lanes and heading back to the Fitz with tales from the road.

Congratulations to Ethel and Herbert, who took first place and drove away with a £200 gift card to spend in our pubs. Well done too to our second and third place teams, pictured, and to every driver and navigator who took part.

Together you raised £110 for the Air Ambulance, which is a fantastic result for a fantastic cause.

Thank you to Guinness 0% for sponsoring the day, and to our owner Tim for driving around the Staffordshire countryside dreaming up all those clues. We hope they kept you on your toes!

Same time next year? 🍺

Win a £200 gift card for the Fitz and our sister pubs, simply for taking a drive around our beautiful countryside! 🏁

Our Car Treasure Hunt is this Saturday, and we'd love you to join us. Just grab a friend to navigate, sign up and meet us at the Fitz at 2pm.

For two hours, you and your navigator will wind your way through Staffordshire's lanes and villages, cracking riddles, spotting landmarks and debating every wrong turn ("I said left!") There'll be laughter, a little friendly rivalry and at least one moment where you're certain you've cracked it, only to realise you haven't.

Then it's back to the Fitz the pints are poured and every team swaps stories from the road. One lucky team will be walking away with the top prize, kindly sponsored by Guinness 0%. Will it be you?

It's open to everyone, car club members or not, and every £10 entry goes straight to the Air Ambulance Service.

Owner Tim will be here cheering you on. Email him at [email protected] with your name and your car to sign up.

B**r of the Week at the Fitz 🍺

Driving home, early start tomorrow, or just fancy a lighter one? We’ve got you covered…

This week our b**r of the week is the Run Wild IPA from Athletic Brewing, and it’s a great choice for anyone taking it easy.

It’s brewed with a blend of Northwest hops, so you get all the citrus and gentle pine you’d want from a good IPA, with a crisp, clean finish.

The only thing missing is the alcohol (it’s under 0.5%), which means nobody has to miss out on a pint by the fire.

Not sure if it’s for you? Have a chat with Tim, our b**r sommelier, next time you’re in. He’ll happily talk you through it, and he might even convince you it’s the best alcohol-free pint in Staffordshire.

Our 'Nose to Tail' Pork and Cask Ale Celebration is on now at the Fitz! 🍺

Running alongside National Cask Ale Week, come and try our special menu, available until Saturday 26th September. Every dish has been paired with a cask ale chosen to bring out the best in both plate and pint.

Start with ham hock croquettes alongside Old Dog Bitter, tuck into a pork chop matched with Salopian's Lemon Dream, or settle in with slow braised pig cheek and a pint of our very own Fitzherbert Arms Best Bitter.

All our b**rs come from within 35 miles of the pub, and Tim, our b**r sommelier, will happily talk you through each pairing.

Only a few days left, so pop in and make the most of it before Saturday.

Cask ale sits at the very heart of a good country pub 🍺

It is the freshest drink on our bar, brewed by independent breweries close to home and carefully kept in our cellar until the moment it is poured. With fewer miles travelled and far less packaging, it is also the most sustainable pint we serve, and for us, it is what a good pub is all about.

To mark Cask Ale Week, our kitchen has created a ‘Nose to Tail’ Pork and Cask Ale Celebration 🎉 making the most of every cut and pairing each dish with a carefully chosen ale 🍻

Among the highlights, a pan-roasted lemon pepper pork chop sits beautifully alongside Lemon Dream, while our pork and bacon faggots, served with creamy mash and a trotter and snout ale gravy, are matched with Cheshire Cat Blonde Ale. For something a little different, our Pork Veenjaali, a fragrant Indian style pork curry, is paired with Weetwood’s Jester IPA. There are plenty more to discover, from ham hock croquettes to crispy slow braised pig cheek.

The celebration runs until Saturday 26th September, so there is still time to join us.

We look forward to welcoming you!

🏷️ Don’t forget to tag us in your pictures at the pub so we can share them!
