(232)

Situated in the upper Swansea Valley overlooking Pontardawe, Pontardawe Golf Club offers a unique location for playing golf. At just over 6101 yards and par 70, the course provides a good challenge for all standards of golfers. The course is situated on a mountain and is semi-parkland. The course has a few gentle inclines, but these are worthwhile as the golfer is treated to panoramic views. To the North, are the beautiful Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountain, to the South, the Swansea Valley, Mumbles Head and Swansea Bay. From the tee of the 16th, known locally as the pulpit, these magnificent views are captured. Pontardawe Golf Club prides itself as being a very friendly and sociable club to the visitor.

Greenkeeping in action at Pontardawe Golf Club 🙌

Our team has been out with the Verti-Drain, using longer tines to pe*****te deeper into the greens and break through compacted layers within the soil profile.

This process, known as deep-tine aeration, is an important part of maintaining healthy putting surfaces. It helps relieve compaction, improve gas exchange within the root zone, encourage deeper root growth and allow water to move more freely through the soil.

While it might not be the most glamorous job on the course, it plays a vital role in keeping our greens healthy, resilient and in the best possible condition throughout the year. ⛳

HALLOWEEN PARTY UPDATE 🎃

Unfortunately, due to a lack of numbers, this Saturday’s Halloween Party Night at Pontardawe Golf Club has been cancelled. We are gutted, such a shame - but if there’s no interest, then unfortunately the show can’t go on. 😢

However, with it being Halloween, we’re relaxing our usual golf attire rules (not that we have a strict rules anyway) So why not dress up, put on a spooky mask and enjoy a round of golf in your Halloween costume? Or, for many of you - just come as yourselves 👀

Although the party won’t be going ahead, there’s nothing stopping us from getting into the Halloween spirit out on the course. ⛳️

Thank you for your understanding.

Damage to our greens ⛳️

Unfortunately, we’re once again having to report damage to the course, with three greens damaged, flags removed and tee markers pushed over yesterday / Sunday evening.

Sadly, this sort of behaviour seems to happen all too often around the school holidays, and it’s incredibly frustrating for our team, who work hard all year round to keep the course in the best possible condition for our members and visitors.

We have CCTV and on-course camera footage from our wildlife cameras, as we have done previously, and are reviewing the available evidence.

If anyone has any information about who is responsible, we’d really appreciate you getting in touch with the club. We would much rather give those responsible the opportunity to come forward before the evidence is passed on to the police.

Please remember that this is our club, our course and a facility we all take pride in. Deliberately damaging the greens causes unnecessary expense, takes time to repair and affects everyone who plays here and pays their hard earned money to do so.

Thank you for your support. ⛳
