We hope your all keeping safe in this trying time. If you can, please help our friends at Dylan Thomas Birthplace. It's such a special little place.

PAY IT FORWARD

www.crowdfunder.co.uk/dylan

Along with many businesses the Birthplace closed in March and we cannot see it fully operational for some considerable time. We have bills still to pay and precious little government support (When is a museum not a museum? Well, according to the Arts Council (of England) who decide these things it’s when it is not a charity or run by a local authority)

“Do not go gentle” we said as we developed our plans to survive lockdown. We don’t expect handouts or pay crazy interest rates to invisible lenders. Our plan is simple and has evolved from a number of other successful projects in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

We are turning to crowdfunding and we have two amazing products to offer you

PAY IT FORWARD vouchers will allow you to buy a voucher which can be used for any product on offer at the Birthplace with 20% extra free. So, if you purchased a £100 voucher it will be worth £120 and valid for up to 5 years. They also make great birthday or Christmas presents.

UNIQUE EXPERIENCES and REWARDS Some of the great artists and performers who have appeared at the Birthplace have helped us put together some very special experiences and rewards.

There is a lot more information on the crowdfunding page so why not pop along to www.crowdfunder.co.uk/dylan and have a look – it’s worth it just to see the video!

Thank you

Dear friends, followers and festival lovers. Firstly Happy National Poetry Day. We have been getting lots of inquiries about the event this year, apologies for the lack of information. Last year was our 6th year running the festival, we’ve loved every minute of it, and we had such a positive response following the move from Uplands into the city centre. However it has also been a mammoth effort behind the scenes to get it all going on a shoestring budget, and after much consideration, and a change in circumstances, we’ve decided it’s best to take a year out, recharge the batteries and go again in 2019. We’ll be back! Have a great year. Do Not Go Gentle. ...HQ x

We are all so sad to hear that actress Helen Griffin has passed away. Helen was a huge supporter of the festival. Back when we came up with the idea to get this going, she overcame any doubts we had with her enthusiastic response, and urged us to press ahead. She performed many times, including her amazing one woman show Caitlin during our first year. A stunning performance. Memories that will live forever. It was a real honour to have known and worked with her. She’ll be sorely missed. RIP Helen

Well that's about us for 2017!! It's been a great year. So many great events, acts and lots of of new exciting venues. Thanks for all your support. We're close to putting our feet up and enjoying the festive season, but there's just time to squeeze one more treat in and that's right where we started the year at the wonderful Uplands Market!

It's a rather festive affair, being just 12 days from Christmas. We have our good friends Uplands Poetry Collective kicking proceedings off, followed by some bluegrass and Americana from fab The Orange Circus. If all that's not enough the lovely lot from the 4D choir will be singing carols and we hear SANTA IS COMING!!!? All kicks off at 10.30am in Gwidwr Square
