I love this guy. He is so right! We do our best to provide a lovely pint, friendly and warm atmosphere to escape to and shoulder to cry on when needed! 🫶🏻❤️🏴🍻🥂 !
⚡️💸 THE ELECTRIFYING TRUTH 💸⚡️
Them: “The energy cap is coming down…will the price of a pint be dropping?"
Me: “🤣…😭😭😭😭”
Let’s clear something up. As a business, there is NO price cap for us. None. Zilch.
In this little wet led village pub - where we don't even have a massive kitchen running - my electric bill is hitting nearly £1,500, every, single, month. 🔌⚡️
That’s almost a much as the entire ANNUAL domestic energy cap over both fuels! 😳
That’s £1,500 before I’ve paid a single penny in rent, staff wages, business rates, insurance…or bought a single keg of beer! 🍺
While the government talks about "supporting small businesses”, we’re essentially being used as a cash cow for utility companies. 🐮
If your home bill hit £1,500 a month, there’d be a national inquiry!
For a pub landlord? We just get another shrug and “that’s what it is”! 🤷♂️
And, to add insult to injury, most of us can’t even shop around!
Pubs are considered “high risk” these days, because they’re shutting in their thousands. So utility companies won’t even take new customers from within our industry! 😳
And yet the lights must stay on, the beer must stay cold, the TVs, the WiFi, the ice machine, the glasswasher…they all need switching on, every single shift. 🔌
So next time you’re in your local, just know that those lights staying on and that beer staying cold costs more than most people’s fu***ng mortgage! 🏡
Support your local. We’re literally paying through the nose to keep the beer flowing.
SHARE THIS if you’re sick of seeing your local businesses squeezed to death.
TELL ME: How much has your pint gone up in the last year? And do you actually think that money is going into my pocket? (Spoiler: It isn’t). 👇👇👇
